22 seconds for 100 meters, that's a 5:54 min/mile, if she kept that up she'd run a 2:34:41 marathon, less than 8 minutes off the Olympic Standard. She's not slow, she was just in the wrong event
Don’t be stupid. That’s the equivalent to finishing in the 5000m like 13 min later.
No big deal. The swimming prelims are far more lopsided. Those early heats without entry times can produce legitimate young talents one lane apart from someone who might finish 20 seconds to a full minute later, especially at 200 meters and a more technical event like butterfly or breaststroke.
The swimmers remain respectful, waiting in their lanes, and the audience invariably applauds the late arrivers.
At least they enter these throw in athletes in the 100m instead of the 5000m.
I guess a 14 second performance would have been acceptable and not thread worthy.
