I feel like during her time at Nike Oregon Project, Salazar & his staff probably encouraged Koko's excessive leanness & helped her mask the consequences with their famous 'grey area' methods. Ever since the disbandment of NOP & Koko's peak at 2019 World Champs, I feel like it's been a steady decline for her health & performances ever since.
I saw Koko in a grocerystore the day before Bauhausgalan in Stockholm (where she ran a very bad 5000m according to her premisses) . I'm not exaggerating when I say this. She was in that store more than 30min, going back and forth with an anxiety over what she was going to buy. It ended with: Dried apples, rice cakes and carbonated water....
She is dangerously underweight. Hope she's getting professional help, otherwise this will not end good, neither for her running career and ESPECIALLY not in the long term with Osteoporosis and multiple vitamins-and mineral deficiencies.
With all due respect why were you in the grocery store for 30 mins watching her and how do you know what she bought? Do you work at the supermarket?

I was actually waiting for anyone posting this reply, because it's sounds very "stalking/wierd" at first glimpse me following Koko in the supermarket.
But no. This Supermarket was located on the lower floor (under a platform) at Stockholm central station, where I had over an hour waiting before my next train would go. So when I passed the Supermarket (was going out to getting som fresh air) I saw Koko inside and was thinking "Cool! she is probably going to race tomorrows 5000m at Bauhausgalan". After spending 20-30min isch outside, I went inside again and wanted to buy some snacks before heading back to the plattform. And to my surprise, she was still there, going back and forth at the shelves. That was also when I saw what she had in the shopping basket. Believe me, I do recognize when someone has high anxiety!
So, there you have it. You can think what you want If I'm telling the truth or not.

Playing devil's advocate here: when I'm in a new supermarket, especially in a foreign country with a different language, it can take me a lot longer than normal to find what I'm looking for. What she bought is fine for a healthy snack. I can imagine a situation where she really wanted dried apples, but just couldn't find them, but had time so kept on looking. Not being able to find them would make her annoyed and perhaps look a little anxious.

If that was the cause: You don´t think she would ask someone after dried apples instead of going back and forth for that long period? And btw, she wasn't "little anxious".
But again. Really hope Koko gets profession help, and wish her a long and strong future at the track & field!

We should report you, not only in this forum, but to the authorities! First of all, you are a sexist liar. But even if that story was true, why are you spying a young woman on a grocery store for 30 minutes? What were you doing? If she was anxious maybe it was because there was a creepy disgusting creature (You) looking at her and harassing her.
Invited athletes to the Diamond League do not need to go to grocery stores, they have full board accommodations in the organisation hotel, but of course, you are a simple ignorant jealous letsrun forum poster, so how on earth you would know that? Nobody invited you ever to an athletics meet nor even to a teen party because you are hateful and a social outcast.
And by the way, she's got a 1:05:41 half marathon debut, and you are trying to give her lessons about her running career? hahahahaha
She is currently training in St. Moritz and struggling with the unfavorable weather conditions as everyone atm. This talk about unresolved payments by Nike is outrageous and unfounded but sure keep the ball rolling and claim to be relevant.
She is nominated by the German Federation (lol to everyone who thought she was American) but I'd not be surprised if she has to cancel due to her foot injury

The Leonardo in London is often the London DL host and there's a little tescos express round the corner. You go 24-48hrs pre meet and there is a steady stream of athletes going to and from that grocery store.
Athletes usually have their specific needs and wants/pre race snacks that they look for and while they have all their meals covered at the hotel they probably don't have those little things taken care of.
The guy's story could still be made up, but absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about seeing an athlete hit up a grocery store pre DL. At the same time, having raced in Stockholm I personally found their grocery stores confusing and not many things I'd normally find in the US. Given Koko has been based state side for the best part of 5 years now I could see her finding brands and snacks she recognised as being a challenge and taking awhile.

Hopefully this is a made up troll post. If not, very weird.
She's a grown woman, professional, with coaches, friends and family that can give her all the help she needs, if she needs it. Yet someone thinks they can secretly follow a person for 30 min in the grocery store, make a post about online and accomplish what, exactly?
Most of these elites are unhealthily bone thin, as are the shot putters. unhealthily overweight. They understand the risks.

And because you are an anonymous coward I could just ignore your post. But since you are accusing me of something I am absolutely not, I do have to clarify a few false statement:
1. I'm not *#¤%. Neither am I lying about what I saw. Why should I?
2. If you read my previous post, i wasn't in that store for 30min....
3. I'm fully aware about Kokos PB:s from 1500m up to the Halfmarathon. And YES! They are very impressive times indeed. But just because you can run very fast times, doesn't mean you are in a healthy statement. You can run very fast times even if you are severly underweight (because the body then prioritize the most crucios things in the body and "shuts down" those things that are not vital at the moment - bone mineral production for example - which in long term causes osteoporosis). But does that mean it's optimal for long term health? Absolutely not!
Please don't be such a foul and accuse me for something I'm not. It is rather you who should be removed from this forum.

So you mean that somenone, for example, Mary Cain got the best, professional help she needed when she was trained and coach by Alberto Salazar at Oregon Project?
Do you think that female runners like: Faith Kipyegon, Laura Muir, Helen Obiri, Alicia Monson, Keira D'amato are "unhealthy bone thin" OR male runners like: Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Eliud Kipchoge, Mo Katir, Joe Klecker, Olli Hoare ?
They understand the risks that elite running stresses the body in a way that is not the most healthy thing in the long term. But they (most likely) know that with a lot of training you need adaption which comes from: Proper rest and ENOUGH energy! End of story..
UAC ruined her by not helping her. Now she's broken. UAC should be getting torn apart on these boards for all of their failures this year.
You’re a complete moron. Even worse, you’re an uninformed moron. Julian and UAC went to the ends of the earth to help Koko. She knows it. Nike knows it. The UAC athletes know it. All are thankful for it.
If anything at all, Julian and UAC should be receiving praise for keeping her out of the hospital and slowly getting her healthier all the while winning European championships, breaking records and running that amazing half. Puma is likely just starting to realize how good Julian and UAC was for Koko.
So tired of this BS and hate on UAC. It’s a good program doing things the right way and building out of the ashes of the disaster that Salazar left at Nike. I’m rooting for that program.

You have absolutely no idea how much effort UAC put into helping Koko. Getting her healthy was their primary goal. If you don’t have truthful information to share, please don’t share at all.

No, I don't think that. But what I do think, is if pro's haven't gotten help from (or were offered help and refused) from those closest to them, they're not going to get it from some rando following them around the grocery store and then pretending they're concerned by posting about it online.
You don't know her, and you didn't talk to her about it in person when you had the chance, but you're going to "save" her by an anonymous post on Letsrun? Okay.

TRUST me. All athletes even at all Diamond League meets or top level marathons will visit a market to get whatever they would like. In fact, some events and athletes prefer just to give athletes per diem so they can get the unique foods they want and need vs catering and assuming "one size fits all" for each nationality, and their unique tastes
She posted on her instagram recently, she seemed to be training in Italy.
I don't know why this anecdote of her shopping in Stockholm is getting so much tread. Has NO ONE on this chat done a race abroad? How long did it take you to find your snacks? Were you not anxious? Basically seems like he saw someone who was about to do a race, having the usual panics.
And yes, Koko, she is very slim, and tall. A while back (Summer 2020) she was looking unhealthily thin by most standards--it seems like a genuinely stressful time for her with the issues around NOC, but also covid and all, so she could have shown more weight loss just because she rode that storm. She also seemed to get lots of injuries. In anycase it seems she is getting her health back (post injury and post covid), she looks like she is gained some weight and she seems healthy, but I think due to the pressure, she will be careful about selecting races as she probably wants to build her race-confidence again. I don't think we'll see her race much, but she will race carefully to focus on longer goals.
