    Monson with the AR and a barrier broken has to take the cake. She’s now #13 in world history, right behind Obiri and ahead of the late great Agnes Tirop and Vivian Cheruiyot. And the AR she removed was set not only by a convicted doper but in a closed-door team time trial—good riddance.

    Nuguse gets his first career DL win over a solid field and maintains his “medal favorite” status, and I was glad to see him overhaul Nordas, who our friend Temp_Account aptly described as “Another Nordic Berserker.”

    Fun watching Monson hang on. I was watching the British commentary and they said about three different times that she was falling off now.

    The problem may be is there a centrally-located track in a large city? Randall's Island (Icahn) is not that. Nor is Mt. Sac.

    There was a top quality meet in LA and the crowd was disappointing. When the DL was held in NY crowds were poor. Pro athletics just isn't a big deal in the US. Maybe the Olympics will turn things around

    I bit off the radar but Megan Keith. 15.32 5000 pb. Coach hoped she'd run 15.20 pb. Runs 14.56.98 for world qualifying time (14.57.00).

    Said she messed up the first lap running 70 instead of 73 and then thought lets see how long I can keep going.

    It was a sellout in NYC this year, and it is not convenient/easy to get to Randall's Island for most. Granted small stadium but it showed with better promotion and stars (Lyles, Mu, SML) it wasn't particularly hard to fill.

    Trust if there was a better-located facility I think they could get pretty good numbers (not 50,000 to be clear)
