Nobody on this site who isn't directly coaching at a school will be able to give you fully accurate information here. Email the coaches at institutions you're interested in and see what they say. Email A LOT of coaches.
Lots of D1 coaches egos are too big to allow walkons or entertain people who can’t provide immediate impact. Good news is you don’t want to train for them since they don’t believe in individuality or deviating from their ideal training methods.
You don't understand how it works. A lot of D1 coaches are handcuffed by title 9, roster limits, their head coach's vision, budget, and several other factors that might make it hard to add an athlete. Most coaches individualize training too. You sound like an angsty D3 kid or something. Maybe get therapy?
Does the NFL add crappy athletes to develop them? No, they add premier talent that will help from day 1. Wake up.
Yes. I have had guys that fast go D3 because they couldn't find a D1 home. Had a girl run 4:54 this year after running 5:01 junior year heading to our state school but not running.
She should have contacted more schools. Every D1 I've worked at(3) would have offered her a scholarship of some sort, let alone a roster spot. Assuming they were constantly injured/have glaring mental issues/grades weren't terrible.

Stop making these things up.
WEREN'T* constantly injured, is what that should say.
tbh I'd only chance it because I got time, and I got dreams. First 5k in sophomore year of HS was 42 minutes and even just last year I was at 18:07. Right now I can run 15:42. I'd say I got a lot of potential left.
quite the improvements, but if say you needed to run 1530 at the time trial or it was a race where only the top x were selected and you run 1535 or finish x+1 that isn't going to matter for making a team. Every runner is going to think they've got a lot of potential left even if their first race was a 1700 xc 5k in hs.
These threads aways humor me. Fill out the recruit questionnaires linked on almost every D1 XCTF teams website, you’ll get at least a handful of responses if you fill out 10-15. I did this running mid 16 5k, low 10 min 3200 and found a spot on a D1 team it’s really not that hard if you’re going to show up with a decent attitude and get better each year. If you can’t find a spot you probably have glaring red flags
That's true but tbh I got 3 years of eligibility + covid year left. If worse came to worst I wouldn't make team, try out again the year after and crush it.
Honestly I will do that straight up. The problem is that it's not geared well towards transfers for obvious reasons which is why I avoided them a bit. Thanks!
I mainly played basketball in high school but got really fast during the summer of my senior year. I walked into the head track coach's office and lied about my 2-mile time (I only ran it once - 10:00) and said I had run around 9:30. He said come on out. This was right before conference. I did one workout with the team and 2 days later ran in the conference meet. This was at Univ. of Texas. Another walk-on (Harry Green) had the fastest 10,000 meter time in the country for 3 straight years.
The hell is your problem dude, salty you never got to run in college? Firstly, I never said I go to a DIII school, not sure where you're getting that from. Secondly, I don't want to say my exact school because, as you said, the roster is online so it would be relatively easy to narrow down who I am, which I don't want happening. If it makes you sleep better believing what I said is false then do so, but that doesn't change the fact that I made it into the SEC by starting out as a tryout walk-on.
You have no idea what your previous schools would do this year. Things have changed greatly over the past few years. Stop making things up. She is attending a school in the upper midwest. You likely are familiar with it. She reached out to about 30 D1 schools and only heard back from some crappy ones like UW Milwaukee and Northern Iowa.
Lmao there must have been other reasons then, 4:54 is faster than the walk on standard at most D1s that list it. I'm sure she could have gotten money at more than UNI or Milwaukee. Congrats on running in the Big East. I don't get the obsession with telling people they aren't good enough

I definitely know for a fact that the three schools I coached at, including my current school I coach at, would have offered her not only a roster spot, but a scholarship. All three schools are regularly in the top 10 in their region and ranked in the top 45 in the nation nearly every year. STOP MAKING THINGS UP. A 4:54 miler would for sure have a D1 spot if they contacted enough schools.
I see now that you and your "athlete" probably thought they were too good for a lot of schools and played yourselves because of it.
I'm so sick of seeing people lying about this stuff. Stop doing that, you're making good athletes think they can't pursue running in college.

This is correct. I would take that athlete now. However, her "coach" is a HUGE red flag and also she doesn't exist.
If you were a real coach, you would tell everyone the name of the school because you would be bombarded with sub 5 girls who are eager to walkon. It would greatly improve your team because you could use your scholarships on sub 4:50 girls them.
Which school? She isn't running at her school so there is no penalty for transferring. Why not help some athletes out?
Sorry. Not revealing my info on here. I don't have anything to prove to you as other division 1 coaches know that you are lying as well. You seem to be a major red flag and our team is more than fine without your "help." In the off chance that you are not lying, I think there's much more to the story about you and this kid than you are revealing.
