LETSRUN carries zero influence. They bash this guy on the daily but he still lands a job. They bash Nike and top athletes continue to sign with them. They bash UAC and BTC and top athletes flock to run with them. If Salazar came back to Coach he would have top athletes flocking to be with him.
This board is a great place for people to come and scream about something but no one in any influential position pays any attention.
They deleted the old thread about his tweet accusing Nuguse of doping. They also deleted a thread asking why the old thread was suddenly deleted. Are they going to delete this one too?

2) There is, appropriately, a thread on the topic.
3) The thread is allowed to be on the site for a long time.
4) The public figure who made the accusation takes a college coaching job.
5) The thread is deleted.
WHY?
Did Jonathan Marcus request it be taken down because it is embarrassing? If so, he should have been denied. He made the accusation. He should be accountable for the reaction.
Did the site owners take it down to protect him? Why would they feel a need to do that?
Did a thread that was deemed acceptable for the site suddenly become unacceptable? If so, why?
If there were new posts to that thread that were unacceptable, why not just delete those posts and leave the thread (which was already deemed acceptable) up?

Stick with the main issue here: You should spend your time emailing the Portland State athletic director about why they hired a quack coach who hasn’t been on the college scene in a decade.

Guys, he is perfect for that job. I don’t see why people are upset. He is local, knows everyone in town and will bring some enthusiasm.
PSU has no budget, barely any scholarship, no facilities, and are in a tough region and conference. They have never done well due to what is listed above.
Their last coach couldn’t get bus money and enough healthy kids to meets! You think this is an easy job? Probably pats dirt as well.

Everyone knows Portland State hired a completely daft buffoon in LeSoad James, who himself is just a walking triple-double of future NCAA violations, grifting tweets, and baseless subscription training.
I know the running scene in the area and 3 of their top underclassman are all transferring plus losing 3-4 people graduating. No news yet on incoming signing so as of now they’ve lost half their team. Pretty sad for the people left

I have followed JMarcus for a while and it is pretty simple. He is just a contrarian.
He says controversial things, and gets a ton of engagements/reactions.
If he tweeted "I think long runs are good" no one would care. Instead he tweets "the WORST thing a distance runner can do is a long run" and 100s of people reply to him and there are threads on letsrun about him. And everyone knows his name.
If you have been on the internet for any portion of time you recognize this is very common and you should just ignore them.
Also for reference their last head coach got paid 55k.
We all know JM will be out of a job in 12-18 months. He's the ultimate clown and literally everyone (coaches, meet directors, shoe industry people) in the Portland running ecosystem can't stand him. It really says a lot about PSU if JM is the best their AD could find. Might as well not have a team at this point.
Reminds me A LOT of Rojo on his podcasts. Rojo has something to say, but is incapable of saying it without listeners' ears bleeding from the verbal diarrhea. Not everyone is meant to do podcasts, that's for sure.
Not to derail the thread, but this is the sole reason I don't listen to the Letsrun podcasts. I think he needs speech therapy, or at least some heavy coaching. And it's disappointing because I really want to be able to listen to a well-informed podcast about running.
