Parking lot on the premises at the fair itself. Fast food, Restaurants open 24/7. Bars Open until 2AM. Firm, Tough, yet Friendly cops. Nice locals. No massive whopper "legends" told by Los Angeles-rejects pretending to be Oregonians.
NCAA office mandates 6 complimentary tickets to family of each entrant. Many schools issue more. So I'd guess 2/3 offhand approximately 2/3rds of USATF Championships seats were family. An average of around 2250-2500 unaffiliated seats sold per day. Hope this helps.
After the meet Officials got no food service, and there was no place open to eat until the morning.
No AC in the filthy dorms that smell of urine and beer.
Fans complained there were so few fans the city cancelled many of the buses from Autzen Stadium.
Everyone asked McDonalds employees in person to stay open and they said the Eugene Police ordered businesses to close at 9 to save overtime pay,
It's funny - I parked both days of the weekend on Agate less than a 1/2 mile from the stadium (right on the edge of the residentials). On both days, there were plenty of food options within a mile of the stadium, and I left after 9PM.
Along with parking on Agate, there's a parking garage exactly .5 miles away. Yes, it costs a flat rate of $5 but very convenient and secure.

Not really. I enjoyed beers and a burger at McMenamin's late on Friday night and had an 8:45PM reserved table at Rye on Saturday. Parked for free no more than three blocks away from the stadium on all four days. Never saw any skinheads/neo Nazis shaking down people parking on public streets and no one accosted me for living in Los Angeles before moving to Oregon.
It's funny how people that were not in Eugene over the weekend continually need to invent tall tales about how terrible things are in their imagination.
So I have been watching these anti eugene threads as of late since several 10K of us are coming to town for USATF JO games at end of July. Im still waiting for someone to give examples of people hating the stadium? Whats exactly is so bad about Eugene? Sounds like a runners paradise.

The Nike Beaverton charade has been revealed. The Eugene newspapers, Uo Ath Dept, Tv stations, TT all pretend to be independent and it appears they are not. \We suspect it's the same marketing exec in Beaverton calling the shots for dozens of organizations in town. The fans have spoken out is contempt by staying home. Only 3K per day at USAs. Last year WC was the worst Worlds in history.

Why are you trying to make a conspiracy out of something that’s common knowledge?
No food after the meet? You’re less than a mile from downtown. LIE
No hotels? Multiple hotels have been built near Hayward since its remodel. LIE
No/ limited parking within a mile? This is true year round on that part of campus. Bus, walk, bike, or (gasp) run the final mile.
ticket prices and the new stadium feeling like an ooni pizza oven inside are the only true gripes.
You're trippin. Yes there are hotels that are jacked up for triple the normal rate. If you are okay with staying at a motel for $400 a night, then Eugene is the place for you.
That happens everywhere. Europe during the summer tourist season, NYC on New Year's Eve. DC when the cherry blossoms bloom, Seattle during MLB All Star Week, any city where Taylor Swift is appearing that week, etc. It's called market demand pricing and it wasn't invented in Eugene.
If you cannot afford a hotel room or a short-term rental like AirBnB, then that's too bad. If the tickets are too pricey for you, then I am sorry that you don't have the dosh to swing that. If airfare or a rental car are too steep, that's a shame. Businesses are not dumb. They seek to maximize revenue and if there are not a lot of vacancies, then the pricing strategy works. Enough people must be coming to the meet otherwise, the ticket prices would fall due to a lack of demand.
I'll be the first to admit that Eugene isn't the easiest place to get to nor the most economical place to stay during major meets. But enough with the lies, the whining, and the general screeching from people that cannot afford the costs or don't wish to make the effort. There are long complaint threads from "fans" that won't even pony up $2.99/month for Peacock to watch track. If you truly love the sport, then you will find a way to see it live or watch it on TV/streaming.
Get passionate and stop being cheap. The sport is only as strong as its fanbase. If LRC is any indication, our sport is on life support at a nursing home and its children are too self-absorbed to visit before it expires.

Like that wouldnt happen anywhere that hosted? Give me a break. There are multiple budget hotels and motels around here. Not like the Gordon or 5th street are the only options.
There’s also this idea that Eugene is hard to get to. I don’t seem to ever have a problem finding flights to the Midwest and/or east coast directly out of Eugene with a stop in Denver/Phoenix/SLC for the same price as driving up to PDX.
Why do some posters spend hours trying to convince others they aren't lazy, to no avail, when they could spend that time earning a paycheck and self esteem?
I have enjoyed many OT, NCAA Champs and USATF Champs in Eugene. 5-6 years ago I thought that is where we should host NCAA/USATF all the time. I do not enjoy Des Moines but they do try harder - kind of like a fat girl. Not that I have ever done that before.
With that being said, I would prefer championships in other places. I think Sacramento, Mt SAC or even Stanford would be easier to get to and a welcome change of scenery. Eugene IMHO no longer has that feel like it did 10-20-30 years ago. The new stadium is awesome to look at but I am just not a fan. There was something special about the old stadium and the way fans packed so many meets there.
I certainly think Eugene should be in a rotation of 4-5 places but should not be THE place. Some of the negativity on here is ridiculous and has an agenda, but I would like for USATF to brainstorm to help revive track and field. Sadly, Eugene is no longer the place to do that.

They do hike up prices everywhere, but if it's a bigger city there is less impact. Even in Sacramento, there is no problem getting a cheap room within 10-15 minutes of the track when there is a big event. Eugene is simply too small to host major events.

It's $20 now. Capacity 8 cars. Cash only.
That lot fills up the day before the first day and the cars don't move til days later. No parking for miles around. The homeowners carry AR-15s and slash the tires of California plated cars.
It's the L.A. Jerksoffs that ruined Eugene. They weaponized Mack Robinson, John McKay, Jon Madden, etc. by gross exaggerations for their own selfish gains.

This is so spot on. TF fans are, by and large, the cheapest, bigger whiners of any sport. Have any of you ever attended a World Series game, the Super Bowl, NBA finals etc. Tickets for any 1 game far exceed what you'd pay for WC, Trials, or even the OG. So many of you have this low rent mentality to the sport and then are surprised when the major TV networks view it the same way. New flash, y'all. 70's pricing expired long ago. You want the pro version of performance, yet don't want to pay a decent price. Good luck with that.
A sellout at $30,000 a seat for Paris 2024. Fans know overall it will be fun and exciting with plenty to eat, drink, party, tour, and rabid support from Parisans and French.
The Eugenians have thrown shade at fans, dispatched 1,000 of homeless White California refugees on bicycles to pick our purses and wallet, closed establishments early, trimmed down bus service, banned bus service from the airport, etc. to disrespect visiting track fans with money to spend After subtracting family and friends, Eugene has 3,000 fans per day at Hayward.
