BTC is done. The college kids they are recruiting are not super elite anymore (the steeple kid and Aragon? Hicks is decent good but doesn’t represent America). Ratcliffe has been a non entity. Fraser doesn’t train with the group - not sure why she’s even on the roster. Thompson made the 1500 final but is at the end of his career. Jager not healthy. Freirichs not healthy. I won’t even list the people who have left the group. Cranny seems to be the only one actually running well anymore. And I say this as a long time fan of the group.
Hated seeing the news this morning. Wondering if he got a stress reaction and came back from it too soon because he wanted to qualify for Worlds, making it flare up. My older daughter had a stress reaction during high school track, and it derailed her freshman season. It was hard for her to sit it out. I can only imagine how awful it is for Grant given the timing of it. Also starting to wonder if he might do better if he left BTC and went elsewhere.
Stress reactions aren't real
If it's a reaction to stress, maybe it's all in his head, but if it's a stress reaction, yeah, it's real.
Saw an orthopedist recently and he indicated that a stress fracture in the hip would produce unbearable pain if you ran on it.
I guess that is not the case with the femur stress fracture (Grant's injury).
It sounds like a stress reaction, which is the precursor to a fracture but can still be very painful. It means he’s probably running with at least a dull nagging pain, if not a hitch in his stride after the 10k.
First Frerichs and now this? Jerry isn’t really a ‘listen to your body’ coach is he?
So Jager, Schweizer, Fisher and Frerichs all came in injured? McGorty the one guy healthy after about 3 months of on/off injuries. Teare too I guess. Cranny similar saga to McGorty. Yeah something is not right if even the healthy athletes are battling injuries/doubts constantly.

This is dumb as f*ck. If he has a stress injury he should take time off. He's not going to be right for Budapest to perform anywhere near his potential. All he'll do is risk aggravating the injury and stretching his rehab closer to next season. He should scratch from the 10k team and help ease McGorty's path to the team
If it is a real injury, they need to be careful. Femur is no joke.

Maybe Bobby "Proven Coach with World Record Holders/Olympic Champions/Athletes with long successful careers" Kersee should start coaching some of our distance runners.

Yeah, give Grant over to Bobby so he can pump him full of anavar. He will never get out kicked again.
Why do athletes have to be so cryptic with stuff like this. Is it a fracture? Is it just a stews reaction? Was Grant in pain leading up to the race (likely)? I’d he had a stress reaction going into the race there’s a chance he fractured it during the race. I wonder if this is at all connected to when he lost his shoe in the 15 at Bryan Clay.
