I've heard from a nike agent that Jacobs and Carlson are both very unpleasant so makes sense why he wasn't deemed a good fit for OAC
Does this Nike agent think the multi billion dollar corporation he works for that makes kids work in sweatshops for pennies an hour is also unpleasant?
kids in sweatshops working for pennies? Its 2023, not 1983.
To reach the levels of the On guys, he'd have to train with them. There's no better training group in the country for 1500-5000m guys and as a 13:11 college guy who ran with Nuguse at Notre Dame, he seems primed to go there after playing out the string to Paris qualifying (which is very much an uphill battle at this point for him, given the quality of the American field) with his college coach in Tennessee.

The Colorado-based OAC can only get so big. Not saying they couldn't take on Jacobs, but I have been wondering how many more athletes they're going to take on at this point. No one in the group is nearing a point where they could be leaving anytime soon. It seems one of Ritz's upsides as a coach is how he's "in the trenches" with the athletes on a frequent basis, not some stay-at-home coach sending out training plans and having a once-a-week chat with the athletes.
There is definitely going to be a point where adding athletes to the OAC could detract from the amount of proper personalized attention each athlete needs. Again, not saying addings Jacobs is the threshold here, but the team has gotten to a decent size at this point.
It would be interesting if Jacobs was actually interested in getting a spot on OAC and they didn't offer him one. Or, it's totally possible (and perhaps likely) that Jacob's is more interested in staying with Carlson.
He was in a certificate program. Dylan was not offered a spot at OAC, but this is going to become a lot of attention away from the UT boys. Sign 30 freshmen, rejuvenating a program, but most focused on athlete will be Dylan. Unfortunate
I trend to disagree, he can be great for morale and may end up as a volunteer assistant coach. A guy like Jacobs is almost self coaching, they can lay out his calendar pre season and then during season an evening chat is sufficient. Wetmore, Smith and now Shumacher show this can work.
All 3 of those guys had previous experience managing both pro and collegiate athletes. Carlson does not.

Ritz has said in the past he doesn't like guys competing with each other for the same spots on teams. Considering Klecker is American and already the 5K/10K guy, seems unlikely to join OAC unless Ritz changes his philosophy

They do have several European athletes who seem expendable from a performance standpoint in that group. And then you can also see that there are very successful Kenyan and Ethiopian training groups that are much larger. Still, you're right that Ritz has been stressing personal attention for them.
Suprised Fay hasn't been signed yet and as far as social media shows hes back training with the dublin track club after finishing at washington. He's outgrown the talent in that group now and whilst F Kelly seems like a good coach, you'd expect Fay to be getting signed by a well known group given his performances since going to washington.
Carlson can’t play at elite level. It’s all about him.
I give him all the credit in the world with recruiting, but he couldn’t get Nuguste or Jacobs to finish up good at the very end of their careers. Shocked he didn’t make Jacob’s run cross for UT.
Those are the only guys he ever got to score at NCAA right?
OAC is very reluctant to adding athletes that will compete with their own athletes for qualifying spots. Only 1 athlete per discipline per nation (excluding intersection @5k between norris and monson). Adding jacobs would represent intranational competition for klecker.
The Citius Mag instagram post about Jacobs' signing says that he's staying in Knoxville to train with Carlson.
Now that's idiotic if he's not doing altitude training. Dude has no shot of being world-class if he doesn't get altitude. Carlson can coach him remotely but he needs to hit altitude.
