You have to have a pro acct to see the Milesplit rankings, but can look at Athletic net for free. That being said, I took a peak at those times, and top 3 for girls are already age 15. Okay, I wouldn't call them "age cheats" exactly, but usually age 15 is 10th grade (sophomore).00

Most of them are the second number by the end of the year

Downers Grove top 1600 returning times:
4:07, 4:12, 4:18, 4:18
All 4 were in their top 7 last year
Also another guy in their top 5 will be the 4:28 / 9:33 guy31 -
This girl is the top runner from the 2A division, Becca Heitzig. Quite an athlete!10

consequently, I didn't know that athletes in high school were allowed to play *more than one season* at a time. It looks like she played volleyball and cross country at the same time! Unless it was club volleyball, not her school team. The above article said she had 4 seasons during the school year.

Not to be her stalker, but I looked her up on Milesplit. In one of her interviews, she talks about breaking her previous state record in the 800m, but her splits for that record were 61.5 and 66.956. I wonder if she should try to experiment with more even splits.10

With bests of 17:40.90 for 5K and 17:19.85 at three miles, Peterson could continue to develop into a star in Illinois.
Peterson showed steady progression throughout the 2022 cross country season, beginning with a 18:15.20 5K opener in September and she ended with the fourth-fastest performance among freshmen at Nike Cross Nationals in December.
Along the way, she also took eighth at the IHSA State Championships and earned a stellar 11th-place finish at the Nike Midwest Regionals.
Mt. Prospect, with a long history of success in cross country, has benefitted greatly from the addition of Peterson, too. With Peterson as their No. 1 runner, the team took fifth at NXN and won a Class 3A state title in Illiniois.
Peterson should continue to lead Mt. Prospect to national success and she should rank among the top distance athletes in the Class of 2026.10 -
On the girls side, I think York and DGN are by far the best teams other than Prospect. Don't sleep on either one of them.

Before the state meet, Mt. Prospect had five girls in the top fourteen 1600m times in the state. (It shifted after the state meet, other girls ran faster, but they still have five runners in the top 17) I've never seen depth like that!
two of them graduated though.
