Nah, silly rabbit, it’s doing just fine. As good as ever if not better. USATF is doing its job well. Besides, it doesn’t have the power to “kill” or even significantly harm T&F, not even close.
did you see their restrictions with social media. They suc
If USATF credentialed every athlete's social media team, can you imagine the clusterfk when athletes go through the mixed zone when one athlete's social team starts a fight with another team because they don't have the right angle or they can't get to their athlete?
Can you imagine the USATF staff in the mixed zone along with the guys in the yellow security polos trying to to establish some kind of decorum?
Think about this before you jump on USATF not credentialing athletes' social media teams. I'm personally disappointed at USATF, but at the same time, there's gotta be some common sense involved.
USATF canned their media people last December 2022. Many suspect USATF farmed it out to the Nike Public Relations Department's orchestrated volunteer websites at Runnerspace, Citius Magazine, Oregonian, Track Town USA, Register-Guard, Dyestat, Hayward Magic, Tracklandia, Portland Track Festival, etc. No one really knows how many Nike sponsored PR websites there are. Do you? Tell us.
Every time I read threads like this, or threads complaining about Siegel et al., I think, "What's keeping the athletes from taking over?"
I don't know enough about the structure and rules of USATF (nor am I a member), so that's a sincere question. There are tons of athletes in the country; what's keeping them from voting together, working their way up and through the organization (and/or ejecting Siegel et al.) and taking over USATF and operating it in a way that aligns more closely with their interests?
A sweet notion. But it's same reason the American people don't rise up and take over a corrupt-to-the-core Washington, DC.
For as long as I've been a runner we've yearned to be able to make pro money but USATF has always avoided the Hollywood Network Giants and their standard level of professional sports money, easily two orders of magnitude beyond what USATF has ever paid us.

The wrong people run the show are USATF. Athletes need to demand better!
If you want run or work for a dishonest phony then Vin Lananna is your man. I’ll give him credit for being just that.
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. I respect that. You must be happy to know that VL is out in less than 18 months. Can you name the person who will perform the office President (elected by the entire membership) to your standard. Fantasyland is open - the only tether to reality is that it has to be someone you really think would want the job. Anyone but Vin is not a person - that is 8 billion people.
Is there a recent book or documentary that explains the inner workings of USATF?
Seems like it would be something that would find a large audience to explore and hopefully expose the corruption and improve the experience for the millions of fans who are constantly annoyed with how the sport makes it difficult to be a loyal supporter and fan.
I was shocked to recently learn that Max S gets $3million a year and plans on making Track the 5th most popular league and this then endure this past weekend’s tv coverage.
Jon Gault - you are the perfect person to take this on, and if you’re not able to get a publisher to front you the cash, then raise money for this here and online methods.

I understand that at the end on 2022 Phil Knight shuttered Indianapolis and relocated critical functions to Beaverton. Unfortunately the press considers T&F and XC such a minor sport and there has been no stories to verify nor refute this information.
They need a complete overhaul at youth level. Just got back from five state regional and there were many age groups with zero or 1 athlete. Most events 2-4 athletes. The single state AAU regional had 100s of kids PER age bracket in the sprints, 12-20 kids per age group in the middle distance. Literally 5-10x more kids from one state compared to USATF five state. Fortunately there are more national high school meets today, but if you are trying to get middle school kids hooked, AAU is the feeder, not USATF. That's sad. USATF should be settin' the pace as our governing body. The folks that run our region look P'ed off to even be there. USATF Officials are awesome, but the organizers...yeesh. For all the world, you would think USATF is completely broke and closing doors in a few months.
