it looked pretty obvious to me she decided to check out her kick off a slow pace . so much learnt from this . without a doubt still in 1.54 - 55 shape .
agree, it was silly to try and pass on the turn from the outside.. didn't expect those tactics. Moraa likes to play with weird pace changes, following her around is not likely to work for anyone else..

Once Hodgkinson trailed Moraa after 400 the race was over. The same thing played out 3 times last year. Keely has no chance while attempting to surge past Moraa on lap two. She's now something like 0-9 in multiple attempts per race during 3 of the 4 defeats. In the Diamond League final last year Keely intentionally lingered back and made no attempt to challenge Moraa because she knew darn well the outcome would play out identical to tonight. She didn't want to carry that sting into the offseason.
Hodgkinson ironically benefits from Mu being at her best. That type of pace is the only potential way to get rid of Mary Moraa. If Mu is content to loiter lap one at 58 pace, then Keely is stuck as third swiftest among three.

Tactical Keely gets really lost and confused out there . not to mention horrible positioning with 200 to go . this race was probably the worst I’ve seen from her . Gun it with 300 to go and don’t look back . worked great previously race
What's this talk of a slow pace? I reckon Keely went through 400m in about the same pace as Paris, and reached 500m one second faster than Paris. Steve Cram said that Mary was slowing the pace up at the bell but that can't be the case because the 100m between 400m and 500m was a second faster than Paris. So was it that 100m that made the difference? BTW, I subscribe to the idea that Keely - after the Commonwealth Games race - developed a mental problem with Mary, and she, Keely, uses too much nervous energy worrying about what Mary has got up her sleeve.
Again, Keely didn't employ the wrong tactics, or at least the wrong tactics that most posters are saying. For example, Mary arrived at 500m a second faster than Keely had in Paris, and yet nearly everyone is saying Keely should have been ahead at that point. And, then Mary proceeded to run her final 300m 3 seconds slower than Keely had in the Paris race. Taking all that in to account, the best tactic for Keely ( which no one during the first lap would have approved ) would have been to have let Mary get some distance ahead of her after the bell, and then finish with a similar storming final 300m to the Paris race.

Hodgkinson got her training all wrong and is already on the downside of her peak. Will be lucky to break 2 by the time the world champs come around. Too bad she and coach have not planned more wisely.
Twin Peaks. She will make the team, then rest, then sharpen. Could be a repeat of last year but probably faster. Tactical race is only good for Moraa. She wont win iff of a hard drive 1:25 through 600 but neither will Keeley. The only thing that would nake it a co.plete toss-up is if Mu goes tactical through 400 or Moora races to the front and tries to slow it down. Girls dont play that way very often though and I dont think she could get in the way of both Mu and Hodgkinson. Its probably going to ve flatout vs NASCAR.
Keely Hodgkinson seemed focused on things other than the task at hand prior to the race. She was on a non-athletics photo shoot on Thursday and was caught checking her watch before the start like she had somewhere else to be but on Moraa's inside lane. She partied a bit after the Olympics and lost to Mu in Eugene. She can't stay focused on track 24/7, but sometimes (not always) she appears to not be focused on the right things when the stakes are high.
