You got me and I stand corrected.

From the article, they have up to 96 hours to conduct a rescue:

"Time is a factor, officials said. “In terms of the hours, we understood that that was 96 hours of rescue or emergency capability from the operator,” Mauger told reporters. “And so we anticipate that there’s somewhere between 70 to the full 96 hours available at this point.”"

The point about the number of days I got confused from when the ship left port. The route down is actually just a couple of hours.

what jumps out at me from the article is there is one pilot and four "mission specialists," who are just ordinary people who paid to ride, and they are operating some of the instruments such as sonar.

If I'm on an airplane, and the pilot invites four passengers into the cockpit to operate the radar, I'm preemptively not getting on that plane.

Well, one of those four is a person who regular goes down with that sub, because they are the person in charge of explaining everything to the other three, so that person has a decent amount of experience.

And the other 3 people do have some sort of training before they go down. They aren't just totally winging it.

Yeah like this happens on a passenger jet and the pilot says, "it's okay folks, they had a bit of training first." Naw. I'm getting off.

Odds are this is "mission specialist error."

If there was a second sub, I was going to ask how did they plan to use it?

Moving people from one sub to the other sub probably wouldn't be possible at 12,000 feet. But what about attaching the good sub on top of the bad sub, and then just using buoyancy for them both to float back up to the surface?

A technically challenging maneuver, but I'm sure the mission specialists can handle it after their 8 hours of training

You're an idiot. It would be the people in the rescue sub doing the rescue, not the 3 passengers in the damaged sub. Not sure why you have some sort of weird obsession with those 3 passengers.
