I ended up asking her out, and she said yes, but then proceeded to tell me she was 18. I'm 25 so I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that age difference. But atleast she said yes I guess. (The different username is just because I'm posting from my phone)

In this dating game, messaging, face-to-face ask outs, its all good as long as its respectful and decent. Also, please stay honest with yourself and give lots of different methods a try before you pass judgement on yourself or others about the difficult task of learning how to date maturely.

As an expert on women i can twll tou now that she will probably think you're a desperate beta if you tell her that one liner as your intro to her and she will put you in the no fly zone permanently.

Just be casual and strike up a conversation with her. Don't appear needy or desperate or too into her. They don't register that as attractive, but rather repulsive. Women's brains don't work like men's. You must realize and acknowledge this fact. They want a man they perceive as competent because they're security seeking beings, but they could easily judge you as the opposite (even though it's potentially a misperception) if you come across in the wrong way. It's all about your presentation. That's why some losers can win with women and some winners can lose with women--all because of their demeanor and presentation in a short instance.

Good job man, the more you shoot your shot IRL the easier it gets. The main downside I see to dating someone that much younger is that:

A) it's tougher to do social things together and in groups like visit a brewery together

B) 18 is a very different stage of life from 25 and her worldview is just starting to develop

Since you already asked her, take her out on the date. If you don't feel great about it, you can always put some distance between you two afterwards and check in a few years down the road to see where she's at.

OK, so let me be serious here for a moment. We've gone from seeing someone you like, to messaging her, to a coffee, to dinner, to marriage, to turkey basters, to code brown - and this is just within the first few days. Hold your horses son. Just what kind of impression do you want to give off here? I'd recommend simply saying hello.

I would invite the girl for coffee. Tell her that she looked like a great runner from her parkrun, and that she is pretty good for a girl. Tell her that you can see potential in her, and that there is a bit of Bekele in her.

Find out her other interests too outside of running. When she tells you her other interests or hobbies, tell her that you bet she is really good at it. Tell her that any guy would be lucky to have her and that you would choose her over a parkrun WR. You should compliment the fukk out of her to make her happy. It doesn't matter if the compliment is not true, she probably won't be clever enough to pick up on it(this is what I learnt from a pick up artist, you need to be an ashole or have the mindset of one sometimes and not a nice guy).

Also you need to be funny. Ask her if her legs are tired because she has been running through your mind all day.

What's wrong with that age difference? Stop that old-fashioned attitude! You're both adults so go on. Perhaps there's a charming love story there between two runners...

Could you shed more light on why that age difference makes you uncomfortable? Is there something about her that makes you unsure? Normally age difference is only an immediate issue if its like a 15-20+ year difference. But, perhaps she seems a little immature for you?

Tell her you were just using the run as part of your double tempo, and you're looking to peak at the upcoming "Firecracker 5k."

She'll also want to know you've based your training on the Norwegian Double Tempo System Jakob is currently using and he just broke the 2 mile WR.

Also Kipyegeon's 14:05 5k is impressive and you could run faster if you also had wave lights and super shoes!

I don't know the answer, but I would have felt weird about it at age 25 as well. Not that everyone has to feel that way, but they could potentially be several life stages apart (e.g., a high school senior vs. a college grad that's now independent and working full time).

Not saying it's morally wrong, but I could understand there being some apprehension that would not necessarily be there if they were in their thirties or something.

I think its more that they said to tell her she is attractive. It really is not neccessary to comment on her looks. Its implied you think she is attractive, don't say it after a run, it isn't classy.

Just talk to her casually about the run, and ask her if she wants to go for a coffee. Dinner is fine, but also kind of formal and a bit of a big ask for a first date with someone you don't know these days. Coffee is normal, and not a big commitment. She'll be less likely to say no if she is on the fence.

Jeebus dude, when was the last time you talked to a woman. No OP, don't walk up to her and tell her she's attractive. That's really awkward and creepy. And nobody goes to dinner on a first date anymore. Just ask her how her race went to start a conversation. You can probably get a sense if she's actually into you by how she responds. If it goes well see if she wants to grab coffee or a drink.
