He definitely doesn’t seem to be a fan of El G. In the opening part of the video when the reporter asks him about the tweet of congratulations El G sent him he did a huge pause and then simply said “I think it’s cool people follow along”
He has made a whole interview in the past on how he wants to be like El G.
Maybe he’s had a change of heart..Either that or he misunderstood the question.

This. I don’t think Jakob dislikes El G, he just doesn’t want to put him on a pedestal. From a mental perspective it makes sense to think of the guy you’re trying to take the GOAT title from as just another competitor. Jakob has been asked before about who he looks up to/who are some of his heroes in the sport, and other than his brothers, he didn’t give credit to anyone.

If you aspire to be like someone you are kinda placing them on a pedestal.

El G is one of the most obvious doping cheats of all-time. He probably retired because he didn't want to risk getting caught. Not that Jakob would be clean either though but he certainly has more talent than El doper.

El G didn't leave to you any "breach" ... as cautious he is.

But you're not a real person Stevebot so your opinions don't count.
Jakob is the best 1500/5k runner in the world. He is the Olympic and world champ. He beat everyone by almost a second yesterday in the 1500 which is insane. He has a right to be confident. It’s only cockiness if he can’t back it up. And he can.

It's a shame that Wightman's injury troubles have lingered into the outdoor season. Would've loved to see him humble Jakob again in Budapest, but I doubt he'll have enough time to get back into that kind of shape.
I still think Jakob is beatable in a championship 1500 without rabbits, but someone will have to bait him into making a tactical mistake, which will be tough. On the other hand, I don't see any way he loses the 5000 at this point.
Surprised most people here disagree. The respectful thing to say is that Whigtman is a great runner and it'll be tough but I know I can pull it off. Pretty much any other pro runner would say something like this.
Remember the times he pushed a bunch of Kenyans out of the way to get to the front at the start of a cross race and then preceded to get beat by most of them? Ah, good times.

This is a rare occasion but I 100% agree with Jamin.
Jakob is cocky, there is no doubt about it.
He doesn’t make excuses when he loses which shows he’s not a douchebag but he is very sure of himself. I think the mature thing would have been to acknowledge Wightman’s presence while politely saying that he still believes in himself. He did not do that. It is what it is.
When you're the best in the world, you can be cocky: He is also right. Even Katir, my fave pro athlete, viewed as Jakob's biggest threat in Europe, was never in front of him once that entire race. They're all just trying to hang on atm which for them is working; everyone is running crazy fast. I do think the losing is getting to Katir tho he did not appear to be very happy after last night
J Ingebrigtsen isn't THAT full of boast & pride. If J Ingebrigtsen looked in the mirror yesterday morning and saw a sub-3:26 1500m man, J I would have split 1st 800m in 1:49.xx which is world record pace. Unlike the 2 mile world record effort, there were good/great runners in Oslo 1500m yesterday. If J I would have split 800m in 1:49.xx, he would have struggled to race sub-3:30 yesterday.

two guys just ran 12:41 with a 2:24 last k and 55 last lap. he is beatable.
