If Jakob is the male face of track right now who is the female side?

I can supply an anecdote. The Diamond League press conferences are always televised on YouTube and the same familiar names are always in the Live Chat. Year after year.

Last week when Anna Hall was on a panel one of the regulars immediately asked, "Who is this blonde chic?"

To be fair, this is her fast year as a pro, competing in European circuits. I believe she will gain more recognition in the next few years.

There isn't prominent female face of T&A right now.

Athing Mu would have been, if she had done every 800 meter Diamond League race like the best guys.

The sprinters stay at home far to often, and avoid each other way too much.

Sydney McLaughlin's face is turning evermore male by the month, hard to market that even if it should be an all natural process.

Faith Kipyegon is on the brink of household name level - a third WR in Oslo and she will have at least Europe sealed down.

I think it depends which country you live within and which discipline or athlete you connect with. In Kenya it is Faith Kipyegon, In Ethiopia it is Letesenbet Gidey, In the UK it is Eilish McColgan etc,etc…..

Personally to me a 55 year old runner from New Zealand it will always be Letesenbet Gidey. To my mind there is no better sight than her in motion…..

In the UK probably Dina Asher-Smith and/or Keely. And Laura Muir over Eilish too - much as I admire Eilish.

If Track and Field had semi competent leadership Anna Hall would be much more well known. Looks like a model and isn't afraid to compete.

I agree the letsrun perception is distance biased but the reason he wasn't in the window was that the 2 mile is not a Diamond Event. It wasn't anything to do with Jakob and more to do with other things.

But having said that, maybe it is a fair point because for example, if Bolt had been competing in the say 150m and it was not a Diamond event (although God knows why they would put a 150m in there), I think it would be in the TV window.

And for women, it is SAFP like thoughts and prayers said.

I doubt 1% of the US Population could pick him out of a line up.

For female: Sydney McLaughlin or perhaps Sha'carri Richardson

USA much? People in Europe would more likely know Jakob and not Lyles.. Not saying that's the case for rest of the world thou...But just mentioning USA peeps is a stretch.

She broke a word record in a race she hasn't particilated in in eight years by beating the current holder. That was a week after breakimg another one.

Chepng'etich can break the 800m world record.. I am positive!
