Her father is from NZ but her mother is American which explains the accent plus spending very little time in NZ. She started running when she was in Fiji for the four years prior to moving to Ethiopia.

A few years of pro running is not going to hurt your career prospects. If anything, it will help it. Elite firms and business schools love it when people were world class at something else before going into business or finance. Look at Cack Ferrell: graduated from Princeton, ran professionally for OTC Elite for 2 years, made a couple of US teams (Pan Ams and World XC), and is now a partner in a VC firm.

Rewatched it today, I noticed that Ramsden spent a lot of the race in lane 2, lurking early on and then moving up in the last two laps. Maybe she could have tucked in for a couple of those corners, but there is a danger of getting boxed in if she does.

Completely agree. The Olympics are next year, so it would make sense for her to try to get on the New Zealand Olympic team. Harvard grad and an Olympian in a sport people have heard of? It doesn't get any better than that with regards to a resume for a top firm. They love that stuff.
