I think (hope) fast food, in general, in falling out of favor with large portion of ppl. I think folks are starting to really draw the connection between the explosion in obesity and more importantly, cancers, and the mainstream food supply.
Fast food joints are really nothing more than heart disease and cancer suppliers. The amount of preservatives, chemicals, and hormones in those foods is terrifying.
Subway is a last-resort dining option when you are in the middle of nowhere and you'd rather starve than eat McDonald's or something out of gas station like trail mix or a pre-made sandwich with grade-D lunch meat.
Instead, you eat grade-C Subway and just deal with it.
I'll repeat this. Quizno's is better than Subway. I'd love to get rid of Subway and swap them all with Schlotzsky's or Quizno's.

I never eat fast food - unless it's Five Guys or In/Out and that's once every year or two years.
Heck, I never order pizza from Little Caesars, Dominos, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, etc. All four have had a serious drop in quality over the last 20 years and local shops are better anyways.
I've seen Qdoba and Chipotle both aren't any good anymore. I remember going to Qdoba in the early 00's and it being so damn good, but not now.
It might not be the hardest fall, but a month of so ago, I went to an Applebee's for the first time about 7 years.
The menu wasn't good. The food wasn't good. The atmosphere wasn't good. How is that place still in business?
All of those places like Applebees, TGIFridays, O’Charley’s, etc, seem so generic. When you’re in one it feels just like any other one.
I think at one time they had their place but that time is gone.I remember as a kid it was “big excitement” when my mom and dad put the five of us in a car and we went to TGIFriday’s. I took my kids few years ago and it was ho-hum. They weren’t impressed and neither was I.

I used to travel between Hampton Roads and lower Delaware (Rehoboth Beach area) on a quite frequent basis for work (Military contracting stuff). I'm talking I'd make that round trip 3.5-ish hour drive sometimes 3x a month....
Literally the only places to eat going down the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia your options to eat are:
1. Convenience store food 2. Hardee's
3. McDonald's 4. Subway
You better eat at home before you head down and in Hampton Roads when you come back if you want to try to eat healthy.
They've probably added some more stuff by now, but man, that was a horrible drive if you got hungry.
I'd agree with Burger King falling the hardest and breaking their crown.
BK is circling the drain, and I wonder how much longer they're going to last before going the way of Burger Chef (the last serious national competitor to McDonalds). They have gone majorly downhill in quality and value. I used to work at McDonalds way back in the day, and I much preferred BK. The quality and flavor of the meat, cheese, and other ingredients always justified the slight premium of a Whopper over Le Big Mac/Royale with Cheese. I hadn't been to BK in a while, but I was in a blood sugar, food of last resort situation and ordered a Whopper with Cheese (no meal or drink - just the sandwich). It was $9.49 and would've been more than $10, but thankfully, we pay no sales tax in Oregon. Flavor-wise, it wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. Comparably, the Royale with Cheese is $4.79 here - same size patty, similar flavor. I can't imagine why BK is charging almost $5 more for theirs, other than a captive audience who has a strong hatred of Mayor McCheese's politics.

Let me guess, you were into Modest Mouse back in the 90s but their new stuff is too polished.
I've noticed that the quality of food at almost all the fast foot places I've tried has gone down compared to their pre-covid quality.
For example, my wife and I got a couple of meals at Taco Bell recently. It was a flour tortilla with sour cream, cheese, and maybe a teaspoon of meat! I thought all the meat had gotten pushed into one side of the wrap, but I tore it apart and the meat wasn't there. I haven't been back.

Don Pablo’s is gone. Haven’t seen a Ruby Tuesdays in a bit.
Near where I live there is a Chick Fil A next to a Burger King and Arby’s. Chick Fil A is crushing it with cars on line while you pull right up to the other two without a wait to order. The food still comes slow, though.
