Nice story, and I will contend that it's real value is in raising awareness as opposed to actually addressing a huge, systemic problem in any measurable way.
From the article: "PDX Housing Solidarity launched last year and has so far helped seven families buy homes in Portland. Sometimes, the group connects people who will sell below market prices. Other times, it facilitates cash gifts for down payments."
Seven families out of a major city in a vast country is nothing more than window dressing at that. But it does get attention to a real problem and that is good.
Or is it just a feel good drop-in-bucket response to something that needs systemic change regionally and nationally?
