I'm pretty sure Emma Erickson pulled off the 100, 200, 400, 800 quadruple at the 2007 (or 08?) South Dakota state track meet.
Granted, she was competing in the smallest class, but if I remember correctly, she had the fastest time in the state (for her class) in every event from the 100-3200.
Wouldn't even be allowed in my state. Minnesota rules allow competitors 4 events total, 3 of which can be running events. Only 2 of the running events can be 800 meters or longer. It would be fun to see a 400, 800, 1600, PV champion, but I don't think it's ever been done.
CO state meet is over 3 days now so it is easier to do 400/800 double. before that change only 4/5A boy to win the double was Boris Berrian. what Underwood is doing is quite impressive. very smoky conditions today and yesterday
When Boris did the 400/800 in 2010/2011, the schedule was still 400 prelims on Thursday, 800 finals on Friday, 400 finals on Saturday. Although, if I remember correctly, he did also run on what would have been the 1st or 2nd place 4x8 (DQed) which was right after the 400 prelims in addition to the prelims (Thursday)/finals (Saturday) on the winning 4x4 in 2011.
You might be right. Im an old man with an older brain. In my memory Berrian was before the switch but I for sure can be mistaken. wouldnt be the first time.
Mr Underwood got a triple at least. 20.93 soon after his 45xx is pretty impressive.
Yes, the 200m was the last event (immediately after the 800m) and she finished second. The athlete that beat her broke Bossong's state record from the previous year in 24.xx.

Also, fwiw, Cuyler Goodwin did pull off this quad in the Maine Class A meet in the 90s. Not fully sure of the times though and I think Bossong's was more impressive.
I think she could easily have won all four events. There is no doubt that she could have run a 57 for the 400 based on her 2:11 for 800. She crushed everyone in the 800/1600/3200 and could have eased up some just to save energy for her next event. Much like Wiley did at NAIA Nationals. Not nearly her best times but five wins. Ostrander could have done the same and won all four. I believe she did the 4x800 relay though and they placed 6th. The only issue would have been the meet schedule and how much rest she would have gotten before the 400.

Ostrander had no chance at running 57. She might not have even been able to run a 59.
In what world does a 2:11 with a 4:48 indicate a 57? More like 60 lol
Um, in the world of World Athletics?
WA Tables - 969 points
400 = 56.21
800 = 2:11.32
Ostrander ran that 2:11 after running the 3200 and a prelim heat in the 800 on Friday, and then the final of the 1600 on Saturday. The 800 was her 4th race in 24 hours, two of which she smashed state records and won by huge margins. If she would have just cruised to wins in both the 1600 and 3200, she would have been basically fresh for the 400 and 800. There is no doubt in my mind she could have run a 57 in HS. She actually ran 48.3 in the 300 hurdles in HS which would have placed her 5th in the state meet and her 100 hurdles best would have qualified her for states. She has better speed than you think.
Not sure if we are talking about just sprint preformances but I feel that Sally Glynn needs to be mentioned here. She won every 800, 1600, 3200, and individual XC state title besides her freshman indoor season when she had the flu. Also helped score a number of 4x800 titles over the years. A runner-up at footlocker xc, runner up at usatf junior nationals in the 1500m, made a world's junior xc team, won an outdoor national scholastic mile, the indoor national scholastic 2 mile twice, two millrose miles, and is the only hs girl to ever win three penn relays 1500m/miles. All in all I think she had over 30 state championships and was clearly national class at the same time. Does anyone know of a hs athlete that took home more titles?
