I always loved the shirt, I love burritos, but hated that any money went to SH. People that don't know will just think it is funny, as that TSA agent did, and people in the know, well, will know!!
Thankfully, I don't use the made up accounting they try to teach you at Princeton.
That's not how I'm calculating it. I'm calculating the profit/loss of each shirt.
Each shirt cost like $13.92 to make. I'll count up every shirt that sold for more than that and send the "profit" on those shirts to Shelby. Everything that sold for less than that or was free (lots of SC members chose it) will be viewed as a marketing expense.
Okay, but then your line "This way I can finally send Shelby her check..." doesn't make any sense. By your logic, these current $13 sales don't impact profits so you don't need them to determine how much to send to Shelby.
Look, I get it, this is a marketing ploy because you bought too many shirts and now need to draw down your inventory. Would be better to just be honest about that.

Yeah it's a nice shirt, I think I got it for a podcast post of the week — so got around the supporting Shelby thing (which I disagree with). The shirt, no pun intended, has layers.

Gosh you really just aren't really getting it.
I don't want to have to send Shelby a check every time someone buys a shirt.
After this one day sale, all shirts (if any are left, and i highly doubt there will be any) will be only for people to choose as their free shirt when they join the SC. So that way I can just cut her a single check.
True story: A TSA agent complimented me on this very shirt the other day. I wisely refrained from explaining the backstory, and let him believe it had to do with ending runs with burritos.

you call the shirt the Burrito Track Club and then send the money to Shelby? Isn't that rude. You should grow up.
Yes it's rude. I have a divided audience. This is like politics. There is a huge divide. It came clear to me that there are A LOT of shelby haters and a lot of fans who are tired of excuses of "I kissed my drug addict boyfriend, I downed a six pack and had sex with my wife 8 times, etc."
Plus the BTC name was the perfect match.
So I thought, "A shirt needs to be made." But if I'd made the shirt at profit, I would have been totally crucified. A lot of people I know and respect really believe she's innocent (I also have people i respect who thinks she guilty).
I thought, "It's crass to make the shirt and profit off of it. Let's at least use that hate to help her defense fund." I mean I don't get why anyone who is for a strong anti-doping rules would be opposed to people raising strong defenses. If the system can stand up to a strong defense, then we have more faith in the system.

we do get it. You're still sending her a check? GTFO. You're toxic to the sport of running

STFU arleady
she had a strong defense. and she lost.
For real. Why the helll is this site choosing to support her at all? Eff your "people you really respect" who support her, rojo. Grow a pair and take the (scientifically and statistically proven) correct side.
Your idea of a joke ("Burrito Track Club") simply isn't funny. Or if it was ever funny, it was only mildly funny for a fleeting moment. Definitely not T-shirt-worthy funny. What's next: "Moran" shirts?
Your writing is terrible. Your opinions are lame. You sound like a grumpy, middle-aged aggrieved white guy. You get over-excited about everything. You're one of those people who resorts to all-caps at the least provocation.
Do you ever wish you'd never stumbled into this whole running-website gig, and had just gotten some regular old job instead? Maybe you'd be an okay, average guy if you weren't always prompted to reveal your thoughts and opinions to everybody.
Moran Ranch is anticipated to open for pre-sale in June with a price point from the mid $200's–you won’t want to miss out on this wonderful new community. Located 15 minutes north of Conroe, Texas, this new construction commu...
As someone with a burrito mile PR of 6:05, I love this shirt! The idea of profits going to SH’s defense is also clever and funny. Doping rules need to be loosened up anyways, LET THE PRO ATHLETES ENJOY THEIR BURRITOS!
As for the shirts, it is tacky. It is a letsrun equivalent to a truck stop hat that has a picture of a large mouth bass and says "Happiness is a 12 incher". Only your M%GA uncle would find it funny.
And I think the whole Shelby affair is just too dark and painful to find anything funny about it. I am glad she got banned. But watching her cling to the food contamination story all the way to the bitter end was just sad. She was a talented runner and probably would have had a good shot at Olympic teams running clean. She probably had someone on her team who convinced her that she needed to dope because every top athlete is doping and getting away with it. I think that is why dopers cling to ridiculous stories that they think should exonerate them. They cannot understand why the get caught and everyone else doesn't. Thus, their doping violation must be an injustice of some sort. It is just hard to find anything to laugh about that very dark side of the sport and human nature.
With all due respect to this website/business, this T shirt idea is in Poor Taste. For this website/business to position itself as a prominent voice in the running community online, this venture is disappointing and a shame.
I’m not sure you understand how profits are calculated.
it’s total sales - total costs = profits
Even if you sell an individual shirt for less than cost, you are still contributing to the overall profit of the alternative is $0.

They tried to teach you, but you refused. Learning is for those suckers who didn't bribe their ways in and were going to be employed during their lifetimes.
