Actually I think its a valid point and I think there is way to much emphasis on race. And I don't think its helpful, it adds to the divisiveness.
I always wonder if the person writing this recognizes they just represent the type of person who impedes social progress just as much as the extremists on the ideological poles. It's always some normie white person (or POC who has learned to ingratiate themselves in order to gain acceptance) saying exactly. what. we. would. expect. "I am a reasonable person and all this race stuff is just too much [for people like me]. This isn't doing [people of color and their allies] any favors [with people like me who were never going to change their minds]"
Society moves forward by changing and forcing dolts like you to adapt or die, not by waiting for you to get it.
Maybe you ought to take a good look in the mirror before you are quick to assume you know all about me and that I am a dolt impeding social progress. Do you think its possible that someone (such as yourself) who is quick to use a pejorative and who cuts off any discussion might be the real impediment to progress?
No that would never occur to you that you might be the one adding to the problem.
Oh quit it with the fake outrage. Now I've upset the one person who was going to be convinced! Oh heavens! What am I going to do without the support of this 60 year old white man! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Capitalization is a function of grammar, not punctuation. Unless you have been living under a rock, the race relations implications of a White man strangling to death a homeless Black man who was having a mental health episode in the wake of George Floyd are indisputable. Black male suspects get shot, beaten, tazed, strangled, and suffocated at much higher rates than White male suspects because racist police believe that Black men are inherently more dangerous. Neely was yelling about being hungry and having no food. He threw his jacket down on the subway. Penny admitted to law enforcement that Neely never threatened him and that he came up from behind Penny to put him into a choke hold that he learned from MMA fighting. There were a couple of men who were right on top of Neely and Penny who could have helped hold Neely down or at least contain him and get him off the subway so law enforcement could step in. But Penny would not release his choke hold, even as Neely went limp. Penny kept the choke hold on for 15 minutes. Anyone with MMA or military hand to hand combat training knows that once someone goes to "sleep" as the result of a choke hold, they need to be immediately released from the choke hold and given medical intervention or else they could suffer brain damage or die. Neely defecated himself and a bystander warned Penny that he was going to kill Neely. But Penny kept the choke hold on him.
Would Penny have put a choke hold on a White guy? Would he have held on to a White guy until he stopped moving and defecated himself? Or would have bystanders given him some food if he was White?

This is false. It's true that people of color are more likely to be the recipients of non-lethal force, but the disparity disappears when you only look at fatal shootings.
"Here's how Fryer came to his conclusions. He began with the data on all 507 officer-involved shootings that happened in Houston the last 15 years. About 52 percent of those shootings involved a black suspect, while 14 percent involved a non-black, non-Hispanic suspect. Since Houston is 24 percent black, the fact that more than half of the police shootings involved black people might seem like a sign of racially biased policing. Yet it is also possible that Houston police more frequently encounter black residents in dangerous situations. To account for this possibility, Fryer analyzed encounters with police in which the suspect was arrested on a charge that indicates a potentially dangerous situation. He analyzed arrests in which officers accused the suspect of one of the following charges: Aggravated assault on a peace officer Attempted capital murder of a peace officer Resisting arrest Evading arrest Interfering in an arrest About 58 percent of such arrests involved black suspects, while about 12 percent of these arrests involved non-black, non-Hispanic suspects. Those statistics are pretty similar to the statistics from the officer-involved shootings. So, while it’s true that more than half of police shootings involved a black suspect — from the perspective of the Houston police, more than half of the dangerous situations they encountered also involved black suspects."

It didn't make you wonder when the things in bold are precisely what cops claim made them beat or kill Black people after the fact?
If we control for the fact that cops regularly lie about their violent encounters with Black people (and we can reasonably do this, based on evidence from many, many, police beatings and shootings of Black people that were caught on camera), then this study would indicate that cops disproportionate mistreat Black people.

That may be.
On the other hand, the bolded text is critical to your argument. And it leaves out a very important unknown - unknown to me, at least. Do cops regularly lie about their violent encounters with everyone? I suspect that they do.

Maybe black people should try committing fewer crimes if they don't want to encounter police.
