Las Vegas is the current WNBA champion (coached by Becky Hammon), their tallest player is Candace Parker at six-four. They would have a lot of trouble getting their shots off and no chance of getting rebounds.
We have 3 Classes, the smallest class champion might be a better match for them. Their entire roster ran from five eight to six three. They have an enrollment of 204.

So easily it wouldn't even be funny. The boys Under-15 soccer team used to routinely beat the USA women's soccer team, back when they actually played each other.
Long distance running might be the only sport where the top women pros would prevail against the top male HS stars. If you ran a 10K at world cross and pitted the top 5 US HS males in a given year against the top 5 finishers in the woman’s senior race, the women would defeat them handily, no? I wouldn’t think HS boys would be able to win a WMM either, right?

Not many and that’s not the same as running a 10K at world cross. Even apart from xc, don’t think there are many HS boys that could beat Gidey or Hassan at the track 10K and likely none in the marathon.

WNBA could survive without subsidy from NBA as long as enough owners are willing to absorb the loss. Or they will scale down to six team, cut down the budget and still survive.

How many truly elite US HS boys structure their training to compete in the 10K and marathon? Zero. And why compare US HS boys vs the world women? A valid comparison would be world HS age boys vs world women. How about high school age Kipchoge in the 10K? How about the top 10 high school age boys in the world every year? There is world class or near world class 18 year old's every year.

Well, I got us off topic, but just because we were comparing HS boy basketball players (I assume USA boys) against the best women players in the world (wnba). Anyway, I don’t think in a given year the best true USA HS boys would win the women’s world cross team title or would likely medal at a marathon major regardless of their training. It’s hard to have that level of aerobic fitness baked in at age 17 even if your super talented. As for the under 18 Kenyans or Ethiopians, well that is likely a different outcome, but wasn’t Kipchoge actually 22 in 2003😉?

I'd say you're way out of touch. Most women aren't even on here but you can bet there are millions who are interested. 50 percent of the Boston field are women runners. In fact, I'd say there are more women that run than men.
EVERY Varsity team at a suburban school of greater than 500 kids would destroy the WNBA champs. The only Varsity boys teams that could lose are either the inner-city schools that have absolutely no direction or very small town teams.
This is just obviously wrong. If basketball is at all comparable to running, the WNBA team would be on about the same level as an all-state HS boys team. How many high school XC teams have five 4:20 milers? That's about the equivalent here.
It's not a perfect comparison, since one player can singlehandedly take over a basketball game. WNBA players would have a really tough time against any future high-end D1/NBA talent, but there are still plenty of very good teams that they would beat.
It may possible that the sex gap is greater in basketball than running since height is such a big factor in addition to overall athleticism. On the other hand, the WNBA team would have a big advantage in basketball IQ and strategy, which isn't really a thing in running.

I'm not saying women don't run. I'm saying that fans of the sport don't care about women running 3:54 for 1500 or 14:40 for 5000m in the same way that they care about men running 3:27 and 12:50. Its the same as the NBA vs. WNBA comparison. Or MLB vs. WPF.

It’s not really comparable to running. Running involves just a physical attribute or two while BB involves a large number of physical talents. Height, quickness, jumping ability, strength, hand/eye coordination, agility, timing, anticipation and probably a few I haven’t thought of. And most, if not all, favor men. The difference between men and women in BB is greater than the difference between men and women in running. And I don’t necessarily agree that the women are superior in BB IQ and strategy. I seriously doubt the WNBA champs could beat any state’s best 10 or more HS boys’ teams.
