Not only did he close in 59:45, but the manner of that close was remarkable. From 30k to 35k, 13:49. From 35 to 40k, 14:01. Unreal power. Remember when people used to worry about 'the wall' and running low on glycogen? Kiptum has enough reserves to burn a sub 28.
I know Chebet ran 13:55 downhill last year in London. And I believe once a couple years ago London opened in 13:47. Any other marathon splits come close to what we just saw on the streets of London?
Will Kiptum go to Berlin or Valencia this Fall and take a crack at sub 2? Or perhaps just aim to take a modest 30seconds off of Eliud's record. Seems he could play things safe and open around 60:15, making sub2 possible but also making sure even if things get tough he can get under 2:01. Will Eliud return to Berlin and try to assert himself against this up-and-coming usurper?
Now why would “everybody” know that? There’s a better way to write hyperbole.
So ironical of those speaking about Kenya's doping yet these drugs come from or are rather distributed to Kenyan athletes by their so called white coaches and their fellow athletes who falsely come to train in Kenya but with ulterior motives!! See yourselves! Shame on you!!
Kenyan athletics was doing so well without the so called foreign coaches but once they started coming to Kenya they brought us to the mess we're in right now!
EPO enables you to do superhuman things. This runner is on an illegal performance enhancing substance, guaranteed.
What's your guarantee? Those are big words for an anonymous message board poster. Make yourself public and guarantee something specific. Otherwise, until he actually tests positive shut up.
Ignorant East African mentality. Head in the sand, conveniently ignoring the many, many Kenyans popped for doping since “robust” testing was finally implemented. You can’t seriously pretend that our concerns aren’t based on ample evidence at this point!

Before 1990 you would have said the same about Soviet Bloc athletes. That is Kenyans today.

So Kenyans are being forced to dope, they don't choose to do so?
What is sickening and disgusting is the insinuations and allegations that are tagged to any Kenyan athlete who posts faster times like Kelvin Kiptum.
It's absurd to keep saying someone is doping without proper evidence done through testing!
I will repeat this:
1. Kenya has no company manufacturing the likes of Epo
2. Foreign athletes and coaches need to be sincere and genuine and carry themselves with decorum when they come to train in Kenya! Let them stick to what brought them here & not engage in unorthodox practices!! See what they brought us to?
We're a very friendly country when it comes to inviting foreigners to strengthen their long distance running skills in our country but it seems our friendliness is driving us into unethical practices brought in by the so called "clean undoped" white coaches and athletes!!!

Fewer than 2% of tests are positive and yet surveys show doping amongst top athletes could be more than 1 in 2. Kiptum comes from a sporting culture rife with doping. He is still way better than any of his peers who dope. He makes a mockery of what was once thought impossible. And yet you think he is clean.
I just have. He will do it. And fans like you will continue to cheer.
This thread was about the splits. I went to great lengths to dig them up and you derail it with off topic accusations, which you have plenty of other opportunities to post elsewhere. But you are just intent on ruining every thread by forcing it on everyone. We get your stance by now, we knew how you viewed Kiptum without you having to tell us.
I am reporting this from now, because you make threads unreadable.

Wrong- I, and others, said it about the ones who were caught.
You may not be intelligent enough to get this but, a few years back I know a PT who was basically one of those- they all dope not one of them is clean fools.
I asked him if he would mind of I started posting things about him cheating his way through PT school and other negative things that could hurt his career even though I had zero proof.
He hasn't posted his stupid rants since.
Yes- a lot of Kenyans test positive. Yes, it's absolutely possible that ANY top runner is guilty.
But there is no way anyone can guarantee unless they've actually been there to see the person using.
End of story.
THIS is exactly what the moderators have to put an end to- but they're too weak.
It is not free speech to, it's cowardice. Until anyone fails a test they're legit.

You need to learn your own history. Kenya has never done well without their PEDs Doping showed up with the Italian coaches and “nutritionists” who moved to Kenya in the late 70s/early 80s. Everyone of these foreigners came to Kenya to coach Kenyans. This is not something that foreign athletes or coaches have brought to the country recently. This is something Kenyans have been engaged in since they became dominant as a country. No PEDs, no Kenya.
Shame on Kenyans! Stop pretending that this is being forced on you because you are weak. You do it willingly. You are cheaters!
Shame on you too! Are majority of the coaches black?
Are Kenyans the manufacturers of the Peds?
If a doping Kenyan wins, the coach also wins, the Epo manufacturing companies also win .
You're a very JEALOUS, ENVIOUS & BILE filled individual.
If some Americans are racists, is it fair to say all Americans are racists?
If some Kenyans cheat, is it Okey to say any elite with fast results cheats?Your general condemnation shows how much hatred you have towards Kenyan athletes but I'll repeat this:That will NEVER STOP THEM FROM EXCELLING IN LONG DISTANCE RUNNING.
How I wish the same hatred and breath you're fuming towards Kenyan athletes can be extended to Salazar's athletes and the likes of gallen rup, gatlin ....
Oh believe me, I go after all dopers wherever they may be, and especially towards my fellow Americans. I will acknowledge a special interest in Kenyans based on personal experiences that affected my life significantly. Kenyans aren’t the only ones competing to put food on their children’s plates.
You are still refusing to acknowledge the fact that the Kenyan dominance only began when they were introduced to PEDs. You aren’t some pure and noble running community that only recently has been dirtied by foreigners and their drugs. This has always been the case for Kenyans. You used to be good and competitive, and then almost overnight you became untouchable. This isn’t because of some inherent goodness in your athletes. Your entire legacy is built on lies, which are only now being exposed because you are only now subject to the kind of testing the rest of the world has gone through since the 80s. You had 35+ years to get away with anything you wanted to. The bill for that attitude is now becoming due. You need to own up to that instead of deflecting non-stop.
Your continued focus on where PEDs are made is misguided at best. First, these drugs are sold in Kenya by Kenyans for Kenyans. Second, how many drugs are manufactured in Kenya at all? I think you would agree all Kenyans are grateful for drugs to treat things like Malaria, AIDS, tuberculosis, polio, etc., none of which were made in Kenya to begin with. Kenyan survival is, at least in part, dependent on drugs made elsewhere.
