Kipchoge could also separate very quickly and change pace to low 4:20s (see Olympic marathon after the Rupp incident). Before he broke the world record, he routinely did absurd things like blowing WR pacers out of the water with a sub 14 first 5K. He is also exceptionally talented having an illustrious track career.
This performance has good reason to raise suspicion. He put a fit Kamworor away by 3 minutes in the last 30 minutes, and broke Kipchoge's course record by over a minute. His rise is highly suspect... does Valencia marathon do their own testing (or just disallow positively tested athletes from competing)?
It looks like he didn't even break 28 minutes on the track for 10K and he just dismantled a field with a sub 28min 10k enroute to a 59:45 1/2 in the rain? Doping or not its extremely impressive, but it's hard to not be suspicious.
It is said that he comes from the same village/neighbourhood as Kamworor and the legendary Komen.I think its near Kaptagat where Eliud Kipchoge trains.Perhaps he could join Kipchoge camp .It would make his logistics easier and he could learn more from Eliud how to stay on top for a long time. Clearly Eliud will be winding down now in the next few months.
Had 4.5 months after his Debut 2:01:53 to Train. Legit people didn't even give this guy the odds of winning, So many of you thought he was a "Flash in the Pan". I've been saying this since January. Unless he's drugged, this guy is going to become the First Sub Two Hour Marathoner.
Would be interested to see what he could do in a rabbited 10,000m track race. The guy has some serious wheels on him. If he can inject a 13:49 5km split haphazardly in a marathon he’s gotta be capable easily of a sub 26:30.

Wow, you've been saying it since January, eh?
Amazing insight. Who are all these "so many" posters calling him a flash in the pan?
That's truly amazing, predicting a 2:01:53 marathoner may win and run fast!!

Every year we see a runner do something like this and we are told here they are "a once in a generation talent". There is nothing more common now than a "generational talent".

Who is telling you that? Anyone knowledgeable about competitive distance running knows Kiptum’s splits are improbable. The difference between me and you is that I see 2 options: Accept the testing at face value or stop following the sport.

He seems to be having success with his current setup with the support of his family, friends and neighbors. Not sure why he’d need to change anything.
