The issue is that they buy the broadcast rights meaning no one gets to watch it from anyone. I gave up with flotrack last year, but it was infuriating to have literally zero options to watch this race.
I have no problem paying for streaming services to follow the sport, within reason. But anyway you cut it Flotrack is a poor value. I can live with some occasional short feed interruptions and amateurish commentary. But to just be down almost the entire time during one of the biggest running events of the year is just inexcusable.
FloTrack is terrible. Now that I've found highlights of the broadcast in Spanish (apparently FloTrack doesn't have Spanish language rights so we can see the Spanish highlights) on YouTube, I see just now incredible what Hassan did was. She stopped twice, missed her last bottle, turned around and ran backwards to get it, then offered to share it with a competitor before dropping a kick and winning. Too bad it wasn't on broadcast TV.

Also: agree with everything above, although I feel RunnerSpace is much better than FloTrack. Still leaves a lot to be desired but I don’t get nearly as frustrated with them.
The Spanish marathon race coverage channel. Unlike FloTrack, it seems to work fine. It's kind of a Spanish version of a meld between Runnerspace and the ShoeTubers.
Not only is it way too expensive, but they barely show any meets aside from the indoor season. Runnerspace is way cheaper, has more meets and better coverage.

ok, so we all need to learn Spanish so we can ditch the English-language broadcasters and watch a livestream run with at least a baseline level of competency!
hardworking High Schoolers, college runners, and other athletes shouldn't have to pay Chris Nickinson's and Gordon Mack's mortgage while they sit around and do nothing.
I don't want to sign up to separate streaming services for everything I want to watch. Track needs to get all the important events on one platform like ESPN+ or Peacock and stick with it. Euros, Diamond League, invitationals, trials, marathon majors, everything.

Or YouTube. Free w/ ads (I’m fine with that), with no Geo-locking people out from watching. Free world-wide, accessible to everyone.

I am not sure why the BBC does not just offer a pay per view "watch the London Marathon" option for a reasonable price. They would not need much in the way of additional infrastructure. Just a way to create the licensed feed. We would get their production and commentary. Personally, I just want to watch a select few races per year on TV. FloTrack, whether it works or not, is not worth it to me. I strongly suspect I am not alone.
i use nordvpn but probably all will work. i got up a 3:30 am pacific time, went to bbc, rewound to start and watched the entire race and pre race interviews before the start. they had 7 hours of coverage. can watch as many time as i want. stream choices included men, women, wheel chair, masses. the bbc account if free, just register. announcers were all gold medal winners from 1500 to marathon. flotrack is about as good as nbc , enough said. i use vpn for running, biking, and billards. americans really have no clue how poor our coverage, not even considering the commericals. i saw 0 of them for this race.

Peacock probably the most comprehensive. Plus you get most of the big cycling races too if you are into that as well.
Of all the whining about track broadcast the ones against Flotrack are the most justified. No way I’d pay that subscription fee.

That’s the answer, for ESPN or other networks to pick up the broadcasts, use the knowledgeable people at flotrack and runnerspace, then bring their production value to the events any put them on TV.
ESPN has disappeared track and field from its lineup. I have the ESPN app and the HULU/ESPN sports package. You can get every crap college baseball and softball game, but it is impossible to find a track meet. They are not giving track a chance to be seen.
Flotrack was in its prime when Alex Lohr and Ryan Fenton were the boots on the ground. Their stint as the face of the brand was excellent, they seemed to have a great relationship with the athletes and were passionate about the coverage. 10 years later, Gordon has got to be the worst commentator in the sport, the podcast soundbites they pump out for content are all garbage takes and the production value isn’t there.
My formula for excellent coverage:
Hot take, let the decathletes do 99% of commentating. The Eatons and Hardee were always well spoken and love the sport (Trey has done some work for NBC I believe but always seemed relegated to field-only, while the track folks come off as unknowledgeable imo). Shame Chris Solinsky coaches, he could be good too. When Emma Coburn retires somebody can hand her the reigns for distance coverage.
dont want to jump on the espn bandwagon, but you may want to take a better look at their t&f coverage. it's very much like the baseball and softball you're talking about.

ESPN was started as a 3rd rate content provider to fill unused channels with demo sports few watched nor cated about. Runnerspace, Flotrack, thousands of other wealthy fanbois, copied that model. It's better than nothing.
