Local school teacher Susanna Sullivan is back to try to defend her title against the likes of Nell Rojas, Sara Hall, and Caroline Rotich. Hillary Bor leads the US men's field. Woody Kincaid has scratched.
Look at the picture in rojo's post above and in the article linked. Last year's women's winner, it seems. There is heel striking, and there is this. Heel striking in the extreme.

Yes, and ... ???
If Susanna can win Cherry Blossom and run a mid-2:20s marathon with her form, then what's the problem? Lot's of elites heel strike. Just because a runner's heel is the first thing to hit the ground doesn't necessarily mean they are overstriding or need to change their form.
The 5K was this morning. I had registered to run it. It was pouring so I stayed in bed instead. Perhaps next year. Hope better weather tomorrow for the 10 miler

Yep. Nobody who understand biomechanics thinks you can learn much from a single still photo.
In any event, it's a significantly downhill finish, and she's already crossed the finish line in this photo. Try coasting while running downhill and see if you can do it on your toes.
It is very interesting to click on the live results to the right and see the age group distribution. It is like a perfect curve seeing the leaders paces slow with age. It is sort of a wake up call for those of us that mistakenly believe from time to time that we can hit or paces of yesteryear if we just train a bit more.

We can't outrace father time.
And then you look at what Sara Hall is doing. (She turns 40 in 2 weeks).
