Some of it, but certainly not all of it can be explained by the shoes. However, she's had quite a unique career going from a borderline, struggling pro runner for many years to American record holder. I sure hope she's clean, but there are valid reasons for being at least a little suspicious. Having a husband who is obviously on TRT doesn't help either.

I'm not going to come out and say what I want to say, but I'll say this. There are a lot of complaining about the letsrun doping polls and what not. People say it's mean and cruel and whatever. But what are we supposed to do when athletes do stuff like this? Believe them blindly and be quiet? What's actually going on here? what compelled her to place so much blame on Kenya?
I hope Sara is clean. But I'm not going to sit around and pretend I don't have two eyes that see. I remember an interview with Molly Seidel (who is one of the few athletes I would be willing to bet is clean). All starry eyed in the interview, Seidel marveled over the intensity of training Hall could do and said something to the effect "I'm 28 now--I wonder what 10 more solid years of training will get me, and seeing Sara, it makes me excited to see how good I'll be in 10 years!" in the past, it would be common knowledge that 38 is well past your prime. I hope Molly is not being fooled.

There are no circumstances that would make me believe that Sara would ever cross the line into real doping. She is a very religious and moral person. They have taken poor children into their home.

Wouldn’t Edna Kiplagat‘s time of 2:25:09 from Boston 2021 technically be the master’s record given that she was 41 at the time?

She's always been talented (winning Footlocker) but she was sort of good at a lot of distances but never the best or top 3 to make an Olympic team, like she was always a few years behind in terms of when she really should have switched to a longer distance.
Finally caught up with the marathon and I think Ryan retiring made a big difference. She became the focal point of running for the both of them and she wasn't the support team anymore. And then the shoes. She doesn't have great form. Like she sticks her upper body out, so maybe the shoes help her more. I think she's peaked though.220 -

I don't think the progression is super suspect. She always had pretty good speed, running a 4:31 mile in her mid twenties, and also running solid 5K and 10K times that were comparatively better than her mile (she was better as distance increased). Finally, endurance is a quality that can keep improving for a long time, even in veteran runners, and even into mid-late 30s.
So I don't think her performances in her late 30s are impossible. I sure hope not!
