I'd never heard of him but looking him up, his progression seems legit. He's been focussing on the marathon since age 24. It's an event that people generally get better at with experience, look at Cam Levins
Exclusive: An investigation into the legality of Gustav Iden’s prototype Hawaii Ironman run shoes has lead to a surprising conclusion: anything goes. But other than the Norwegians, nobody seems to know.
We do not have the volume of sub 2:10 like some other countries, because every HS kid thinks he/she is a sprinter when they come out for track. Distance runners in this country typically run in HS and some in college, and usually don't run after college. Distance running in this country is not like it is in some others - a way out.
For the millionth time, Grandma's is considered a legit course by World Athletics. The course has a negligible 110 foot net elevation loss and is gently rolling almost the entire way.
Americans are provincial, arrogant, and willfully ignorant of anything that is outside of the United States and potentially better (eg. public transportation, health care systems, marathon courses, bidets, etc.).
Great result for the guy who placed 12th in the Olympic marathon in 2021. He’s improving from year to year. He only became a full-time runner this past year and up till then was working 35 to 40 hours a week in a sports store repairing bicycles and skis. He’s now faster than Yuki Kawauchi, his idol.
How do you repair skis?
Skis get damaged from contact with rocks and other debris. Also most people don't know how to wax skis. Navarro is an expert with bikes and skis. Worked for years at huge France sports chain, Decathlon

Bidets? Seriously? Not defending Americans, apart from maybe arrogance (bit harsh), but there is no need for bidets.
Agree with Fgg on the bidet. By the way, no better health care than that in the United States exists. But I'll give adobe the public transportation thing, with the caveat that the rest of the world that he refers to with is actually just 4 or 5 countries in the Western half of Europe. If the area where he reckons everything is so much better is Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast, that's way off even on transit.
In my view the super shoes are a real game changer in the world of road racing. Guys like Bill Rodgers and Frank Shorter would have ran around 204 or 205 in my opinion had they been wearing super shoes in their era.
And Americans still get excited about guys running 2:12

Weirdest reply I've seen. Don't know where to even begin with the fallacies. But you actually believe marathoning is a way out for Frenchmen?? Distance running is far more popular in the US than France yet this random part time runner guy just ran almost as fast as our legend...Rupp and is currently faster than all the Japanese. The land of marathoning culture
There were many national records set in this race:
4. G.Ayale Israel 2:05:33 (previous 2:06:56, Teferi 2022 also in Sevilla)
11. C.Pacheco Peru 2:07:38 (previous 2:09:31 by Pacheco in 2019)
13. H.Garibay Flores 2:07:44 (previous 2:11:58 by Flores in 2021)
26. C.Del Rio Chile 2:10:26 (previous 2:12:19 by O.Aguilar in 1988, Rotterdam)
32. C.Zamora Uruguay 2:11:02 (previous 2:11:42 by N.Cuestas in 2020, Valencia)
I also thought that the record of Moldavia was achieved with Maxim Raileanu running 2:11:12 (34th), until I checked and found out that the record for Moldavia was in fact a stunning 2:08:32 by Jaroslav Mushinschi achieved in Düsseldorf Germany in 2010! Pre Super Shoes.

Best marathon in the month of February? Spain is the place to be: so many super competitive races through out the year.
It was awesome. NBC should watch this replay over and over. They covered more than just tje lead pack, had graphics for national record pace for a number of runners.
They, sit down!!!!, showed runners crossing the finish line and said most of their names!!!
