Huntington is her entire support network. It's shaped her worldview. It's really easy to criticize from the outside looking in, but she's never been outside of the situation to get perspective.

You have to read up on the case and the other Huntington 'champions' that have said they were doped and asked to have their thrown championship out. Some people suspect that Wiley may have been doped when she set the record last year.
usually when a 19 year old girl finishing 4th at USA’s in the 1500m, the message boards would go crazy. But no one is celebrating her because of her past. It’s sad honestly. I don’t think she should be viewed as someone to dislike. She just unfortunately met up with the wrong people who she viewed as her mentors. Some things are just out of her control, especially when you are young.
I agree and disagree. I think there are many angles to this story, but the one that gets overshadowed (and rightfully so) are the PEDs. While she has not failed a drug test, after reading the police report and other accounts, there is reason to believe PEDs may have been an ingredient to her success. I think this is a reason why a lot of us are not excited about her performances.
Any running success Wiley has had and will possibly have, will be undoubtedly overshadowed by this whole scandal. There are confirmations that Lauren Johnson has been seen at various meets and that tells you all you need to know, who is still holding the keys to Wiley’s future. I feel for her because she has been groomed, but what makes it even worse is when she spoke out against the other victims and even became uncooperative with the investigation. Besides the very select few on social media that support her with mostly being the current coaches, the silence from fellow competitors and peers has been telling.
I don't feel the least bit bad for her. She may have started out a victim but she isn't anymore. She's an adult that should know right from wrong and she willingly chose wrong and then criticize the people who chose right.
Steve Taylor for the university of Richmond was a complete d*ck head back in the day. I look back at him now and just laugh at how pathetic he is. Imagine being a grown adult and intimidating 18-19 year olds?

On 2023 there is no excuse for not having a world view outside any "support network". We all, quite literally, have a device in our pocket with the accumulated history of all human knowledge.
I watched the meet with my wife and sons. When I saw her leading, I mentioned the Huntington situation. They had never even heard the school name before. I called my parents last night to talk about the meet. They asked who the high school girl was leading the 1500. They had never heard of her or the college before. 95% of track fans watch meets and kniw nothing about things off of the track. Ask a high school track team of 100 boys and 100 girls and 10 coaches and you may find one or two who ate aware of the situation.

Man, she doesn't have an actually support network outside of this mess. Huntington, the town and university, has shaped her world view and she hasn't had the opportunity to get an outside prospective.
Note that the other women in this program that are now suing the university didn't, at least fully, comprehend how bad and messed up things were until they left.
That's the main problem. Wiley's parents weren't very good so Wiley saw the Johnsons as a step up.
Now Wiley needs to find another coach or mentor that is a step up from the Johnsons and move on. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later.
