How many top US female long distance runners (5k / 10k) run sub 2 in 800m? Elly is a 5k runner, probably 10k at some point.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Shelby Houlihan has the American record in the 1500 and 5k and even she struggled to break 2 minutes in the 800.

This is proving his point though. To be a great 5k runner who can compete on the world championship stage you need sub 2 speed.
Hiltz has wheels and should be good for Elly to train with. I'm trying to think of other women who will be in contention for that 5k team that I would put ahead of Henes and I don't know if anyone is a sure thing to beat her. Monson, Cranny, and Schweizer are probably the strongest candidates but I can see Elly nabbing a spot from one of them or some opting up for the 10k.
