My point is that On sales go beyond running shoe retail. All those higher-end brands are at department stores, you know.
What's all the hype about the OAC runners using the CU facility recently?
THEY WERE FILMED ON A SOUNDSTAGE IN HOLLYWOOD. Just like the supposed moon landing. Special effects. And JFK is alive. (And the Don is the legitimate president.)
For every serious runner who overthinks their tempo vs. 10K race shoe vs. half race shoe there are 12000 people who just want a cool looking shoe to match their athleisure outfit. On has a cool Euro-style aesthetic that people are obviously buying. They learned their lesson very well from Nike. The Vomero or does not make a big profit for Nike. The gazillon Air Max iterations are what built Nike.

Wheating might be looking to leave his injured wife at home who is always on social media begging anyone to "show some love" to her useless most recent reel.
Robbie Andrews sipping on a travel mug of spaghetti Os for years and finally getting caught when Beamish accidentally knocked it over trying to put his sweats on over his shoes is by far the best story to come out of OAC.

My point is that On sales go beyond running shoe retail. All those higher-end brands are at department stores, you know.
Was there actual relevance? Yeah, great point about where less than 10% of their sales numbers come from. Department stores are zombie retailers. ON's online store in one month probably outsells what a department store chain sells for an entire year. It helps marketing, at best, but it's not swinging any significant weight.

Imagine being a grown adult and caring about what another grown adult (who has no impact on their life) is doing with their degree.
It's just too bad so little ROI will result because the product has been roundly rejected by the running segment. And our girlfriends only need a couple pair per year to wear to go to yoga class, Ozo Coffee, and the gym. They probably only outsell Newton and maybe Salomon and Reebok in the running market at this point. Nike, Brooks, Saucony, New Balance, Asics, even Adidas and Mizuno and Hoka aren't looking over their shoulders for On. If they would ditch the inadequate Cloudtech/Speedboard and get some superior foams to mate to their otherwise appealing design then they might have something that can compete. Without sales to support the budget, the largesse of OAC's expenditures won't be sustainable. With Ritz and Wheating in-house, it would be funny if OAC moved to Nike if and when On attempts to slash their budget and becomes BTC of the Rockies.
What running segment are you speaking of? Have you sampled a population and then used that data to make an informed decision that ON's shoes are not what runners want (or did your buddies say they suck)? Are you looking at publicly known data on COGS in regards to ON compared to lets say Hoka? Or is that data not public knowledge. OR are you looking at the operating expenses of multiple companies and deeming that ON is going to slash their budget?
Please please please enlighten not only myself, but the entire community of letsrun with where you got your data to make such bold and astute claims!

It's a $100 million for this past year. At one national outlet. Just because you order a flat white doesn't mean you know anything about On's numbers.
I've been surprised? to see them working out on the CU indoor facility. Did ON finally secure some sort of deal with the University?
Klecker replied to Nick Willis on Twitter saying the CU track has always been available for a price. So assuming OAC shelling out some decent cash to work out there, because that track is notoriously difficult to get on.
I had no trouble at all getting on it and running on it . . . 40 years ago. As easy as H.S. tracks were in the 1960s. I remember seeing a prairie dog popping up out of a hole in the infield. The track *was* synthetic in 1982.
