Not rigged but certainly managed in order to drive parity. Definitely a very Marxist type business model.
Privately owned groups conspiring in order to maintain parity and competition and drive viewer engagement is the exact opposite of a "Marxist business model"

I assume anyone calling the NFL structure "marxist" or "socialist" has no understanding of those ideas and no understanding of how the NFL works.
I have no direct evidence to say the NFL is rigged in any way. However, anytime you have as much money as is involved in the outcome of NFL games, the potential is there. Add to that all the money people are betting on the outcomes and you have the perfect temptation.
There's been an NBA referee arrested and jailed for taking bribes to rig games. A legendary baseball player and manager, known to have a gambling problem, was arrested for betting on his own games. The baseball world series was rigged over 100 years ago by multiple players who took bribes from gamblers. And that's when a tiny fracture of money was at stake, compared to now.
Where there is money, there will corruption. Where there is a lot of money involved, there will be a lot of corruption.
The NFL being rigged is a lot different than......a game.......being rigged, that coud happen and might have, but to think the NFL is rigged is ridiculous. No coach no owner is in on something like that, and that should be real obvious.
There are how many thousands of people most not knowing each other able to keep the fact the NFL is rigged a secret. No player who got waived ever got mad and spilled the beans, really? So just how is this done? So all these rets get paid ny the mob to fix things, really? really? have any idea what it takes to become an NFL ref?
Come on rookies hell no the NFL isn't rigged, never has been and nevdr will be, way too many people involved to let that work.
100%. No way something this big can be rigged without people knowing. Plus, everyone involved would be open to serious criminal charges like fraud. Yes WWE is rigged, but (a) everyone knows it is rigged, proving the point, and (b) no one is betting money on WWE.
Since you seem to be conceding that games can be (or are) rigged, how many rigged games would it take to say that the NFL is rigged?
Doesn't work that way, the NFL isn't rigged that is simply common sense. Has an NFL game ever had somebody do something illegal to sway an outcome, that is a probably. But with 99.99 of all games being legit, wouldn't worry about a rigged NFL.
I guess my question wasn't clear enough. We agree that the NFL is not rigged a la WWE, but that games could be rigged due to reasons given above. So, take the example of drinking water from the tap. Pretty much everyone is fine with it and would not say that it is "tainted" or "toxic" even though it is not totally pure. However, at some point, the water could become "tainted" (like in Flint).
How many rigged games would it take before you would deem the league rigged, and what is your justification for that number?
They need to change the pass interference penalty. Picking up 50 yards on a judgement call that can go either way is BS. Make it like the NCAA rule where the max penalty is 15 yards.
The reason why it isn't like the NCAA is because DBs are too smart, too athletic. If they get beat and know they are about to give up a big play, maybe even a touchdown all they would need to do without the current rule is to tackle the player before the ball gets there. Giving up 15 yards when they would have likely given up 50 is a no brainer. I agree that the officiating is questionable and how and what they enforce is inconsistent. That's a personnel issue. We need better officiating. The rule itself is fair.
A lot of people think so -- often people who follow the sport for betting rather than entertainment or to follow their team, though I've heard theories from all types of football fans. But I've never actually heard any evidence of rigging from any of them. You'd think they'd be able to come up with some by now, beyond just the kind the OP suggested: "whoa, this game was just too good!" or "wow, this game didn't go the way I expected!" Sure, the whole thing must be fake as a consequence.

Pro rasslin isn't rigged, it is 100% legit, but that legit is fake violence with a predetermined outcome. Nobody there is trying to sell real sports, they peddle entertainment.
A few games over years of NFL action isn't a rigged NFL, the NFL is not rigged, never has been, and never will be.
You're all saying it cant be rigged because too many moving parts, but you forgot about how we rigged the moon landing.
Better question: you think that these billionaire owners allow their income to rely on how a player is feeling that day? They allow players to dictate how many eyes are on the game and how much ad revenue they can generate?
There sure are a lot of Game 7s..... There sure are a lot of feel good stories of <insert disaster-plagued city here> winning it all.....
But yeah billionaire owners are probably just fans themselves, and don't care about maximizing money off their investment. You right. My b.

Do you really believe something the size of NFL football could pull off rigged games, do you know what would happen if a gambler lost big money because a game was rigged, now we have a very serious problem. Players who get dumped not letting the cat out of the bag. sure they would, hell they'd sell the story, be on sports talk shows. CNN, FOX NEWS, ABC, NBC, CBS all wanting the story.
I have thought about players not really all that excited about playing football anymore than that have to not being too cool with playoff games. Yes some are just into the game because of the money, they don't even like football. A lot of these guys don't even follow the game, not fans. I can see a player doing something to lose a game so the season is finally over, yippeee., freedom.

I would counter this with a few things. Pete Rose was not arrested for betting; he served time for tax evasion. He was banned from baseball from betting. While it is a bad thing due to Black Sox there is not great evidence his bets involved changing the outcome of games.
The NBA referee was never charged with fixing games. The evidence he impacted games comes from an analysis and mainly that the points scored were higher. Donaghy mostly was betting on games and passing along information on player injuries and such.
You mention all the money involved. I would argue that higher salaries of players and referees reduces the chances of a game being rigged. For the players, if they are making millions or have a chance to do so, some guy coming in would have to offer up a lot of money to fix a game as the risk would not be worth it. Not to mention prison time.
As evidence, the Black Sox were paid by gamblers because they were not paid well and the owner was treating them like crap. And to add to it the gamblers tried to double cross the players and not pay them. Today, how much money would it take to get a starting player to throw a game when they are making hundreds of millions of dollars.
Alas, any conspiracy requires multiple people and someone will let it slip or blow the whistle.
Lastly betting is watched very closely. This is how betting scandals in tennis have been discovered. Some weird betting patterns occur and trigger alarms.
