When Barega said competition, he wasn’t talking about competition on the track per se. He was referring to the competition to see which country can get away with the most doping. That is the epic battle Kenya and Ethiopia have been waging for nearly 30 years. The only other country on their level of doping was Russia, and they’re out. So that leaves Kenya as their main doping rival.
Katir is competition for the Ethiopians. He has run 3:28, 7:27 and 12:50. Katir has a World Championship Bronze medal at 1500m.
Jakob has run 3:28, 7:27 and 12:48.
you know as well as me that that means nothing. katir beat jakob once and it will never happen again. jakob will improve his pbs, katir will never run faster

The season is long...
Even if I had Usain Bolt of 2009 between my hands, I will not put future predictions with certitude.
LRC: “Africans are just a bunch of faceless, nameless dopers”
Also LRC: “I can’t believe the Olympic champion didn’t name drop an American with no global medals when talking about competition after a cross country race!”
Oh I'm well aware. Just don't pretend like the Americans are all clean.
Give me a break. AIU tests Americans plenty and there isn't a fraction of the doping positives these days. Im sure there are dopers, but equating a country the AIU has deemed as the highest risk for doping, with one that is not is ridiculous.
Kind of. There are only 7 US distance runners in the AIUs registered testing pool - and Galen Rupp isn't even one of them!
East African runners are good (maybe naturally predisposed) distance runners by their performances are not regular.
I won't be surprised if Grant play a trick to them as did Jakob the last years. Because there is more than your foot in your running, there is the brain.
Exact same opinion Kenyans have of Ethiopian athletes. Without these two countries, the sport of endurance running will become joke.
Lol. Anyone that thinks even with all their doping that they're anything special is on bath salts. Tell me how many golds either of those two got in the last ten years in the 5000 in WCs or Olys? Right, 2 out of 10. With 0 in the Olympics. Lol Lol lol lol
How's the 1500 the last few years? Kenya/Ethiopia getting demolished. Cope

Lashing out because our feelings got hurt, aren't we? Still won't change the fact that Kenyans and Ethiopians only compete against each other with the rest of the world being irrelevant.
The rivalry started nearly 55 years ago when Naftali Temu 🇰🇪 and Mamo Wolde 🇪🇹 made the men's 10,000m at the Olympics in 1968 a two-horse race. No one else factored or mattered.

Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen made up for his shocking defeat in the men's 1500m earlier at Worlds, holding off a deep field which included the defending Olymp...
Then what happened in 1972 and 1976? No Kenyans on the podium in the 5,000, 10,000 or marathon. Totally irrelevant.
Umm ... it would've been a hard for Kenyans to get on the podium in 1976 when Kenya boycotted the Olympics in Montreal in solidarity with other African countries against support for the apartheid regime in South Africa. Henry Rono would've easily cleaned up if he'd gone.

Dude, I don't know what tell you. Kenyans and Ethiopians still won't waste attention on your heroes. Ingebrigtsen, Wightman and Fisher may be superstars here, but don't register in Kenya or Ethiopia. Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes only have respect for each other.

Lol. And do you think anyone will pay attention to your heroes? It doesn't matter to most of the world if your no talent sideshows that are eating the dust of the actual best runners dont register in those 4th world backwards cesspools. The whole world knows the winner not the loser. On top, all these actual winners (Europeans, N. Americans, Oceania) have only respect for each other. Kenyans/Ethiopians are looked down upon. Especially for their uncontrolled doping. None of their "achievements" even matter to anyone in the civilized world.

Yeah this thread reeks of insecurity. And of people who don't know the differences between Ethiopia and Kenya.
