Per his rolltide bio, he coached Mercy to two titles. Tyynismaa and Olemomoi doing great. Valby is going to stay I bet. Will any of the Bama girls follow him?
I hope part of the goal is to build a real XC team.
Alabama owns the Kenyan pipeline, not Palmer. None of the Kenyan runners would transfer to Florida. Look at their distance line up, white as a ghost. Alabama is the opposite.
He left a possible championship caliber team to a one-man team !?????
Sit and bask in the light of others or build your own dynasty? Sometimes you just take a shot at it. There can be a lot of success even without a championship. Or it fails. Only one way to know.
Why do we forget about track? He left a possible xc contender at 'bama, now needing 2 runners for the top5 next yr (maybe more shortly), for a sure thing indoor and outdoor track champion at Florida.
In a few years his next job will be director of t&f and xc at a solid program.
He’s a great guy. Mercy doesn’t have any more XC eligibility so good time for him to leave after a great cross season for them. Great step up for him to own the entire distance program at UF instead of just women’s at Bama.
