Parker Valby will make it to the Olympics, Tuohy will not.

Let's try to keep emotions out of the discussion. Tuohy beat Valby past two times. Valby has improved twice as much in college as Tuohy. Valby is not a good hill runner, yet barely lost to Tuohy in XC which indicates that she would run faster on a track. Valby has a faster 3000 meter time thatn Tuohy. Valby barely lost to Tuohy in the 5000 coming off injury and only having run for two weeks. The improvement point is the one that sways me toward Valby long-term on the track over Tuohy. I don't know what they will run this year or in five years but I predict 14:48 for Valby this season and 14:58 for Tuohy. I predict 14:32 lifetime for Valby and 14:47 for Tuohy. Those are my predictions, not how I feel abut them as people. They both seem genuine and likeable both bring fans to the sport.

She is 0-4. At some point predictions need to meet reality. These predictions are always just special pleading.

Valby fans must be losing confidence in her since her xc loss to Tuohy, otherwise they would be claiming she is going to be the first woman to run sub-14, not just making the heats at the Olympics.

I have no idea what you are saying. It seems you must think you have some idea. 14:48 is basically 8:53 pace for 5000 vs 3000. Seems fast. 14:30 is 4:40/mile. I'd like to see Valby get close to 4:30/mile or 2:10/800 before predicting that. Some question is Tuohy has enough speed, and Valby at this point seems to have less.

Another thread said Solinsky and Valby are transferring to Oregon and signing a Nike NIL. As Oregon has a better elliptical, Valby will soon beat the Africans.

The difference between Valby and Tuohy is that Valby's main goal each race is to run as hard as she can and as fast as she could. Tuohy's main goal each race is to just win, whatever it takes. It is hard to predict which runner will be better in the future based on their current personal bests because one likes to time trial and the other likes to sit and kick.

Maybe there shold never be a thread talking about predictions for the indoor national meet or the XC meet. Not allowed in your world. What did you say after Tuohy lost last year. I have a feeling that you predicted she would win in the future. Next time Tuohy loses, don't you dare mention anything about the future.

To answer your question, Valby at their peaks because Tuohy is at her peak while Valby is not. Valby has made much more improvent that Tuohy over the past few years. The question to you is, why would Valby not pass Tuohy since she is imroving much more rapidly?
