Marc Scott announces BTC departure

The pattern with BTC seems to be breakthroughs and top performances (after a year or two if they athlete sticks it out), but then the bill comes due 2-4 years later and injuries/underperformance mount. As they do, seemingly a lack of flexibility (after a year or two of uneven performances) is then the contributing factor to leaving. Scott seemed to hit this point after a very good indoors season last year.

He's running the London marathon next year. He said he doesn't think he can be competitive over 5k and 10k anymore. I had a hunch he'd end up with Canova and train with Emile Cairess (now coached by Canova) who is also moving to the marathon next year. Both are lads from the North and know each other. There's a Sweat Elite video of them working out together in the UK.

I reckon he didn't fancy the move to Eugene. Looks awful if you're young, not in college, but want a life outside of your career as well

I think he should move down in distance not up. Use that speed.

THe guy who's best international performance is in the 3k is going to move up to the Marathon? Yes indoors is watered down but 3rd indoords is objectively better than his 14th place in the 2021 10k and 14th in the 2022 5k.

True, but is he meant to become an indoor specialist? If say his GNR victory was a bigger deal as well. He's run 60:30 for the HM a couple of times. If he can run 2:08-2:09 for the marathon, then that gets him to the next Olympics and also means he has a decent career for the next five years. In the right race, that could get him top-5 at a WMM. He can be relevant on the roads and can guarantee to have at least one race each year (London marathon) where he gets some decent attention and possibly sponsorship. Unless he can consistently get under 13 and 27, then he can't be relevant on the track

He's run 3:35-high for 1500 and he's 28. And the British 1500 team is the most competitive in the world. Just last year, five guys ran 3:32 or better. Marc Scott has zero prospects at 1500

Looks like all the athletes that didn't know about the burritos are leaving and those that are staying are training with Shelby.

He's at 13:05 and 27:10, I don't think its impossible for him to get under 13 and 27. A new coach could help by giving him a new stimulus. He has a good kick but just couldn't hold on long enough in 5k/10k races.

Not to sure what the “European Games” (it’s the European Championships), but earning five results in the top 20 in the main championships in the World looks during a two year period look quiet strong good results to me.

Perhaps, Scott iOS sick of being treated badly by a coach who claims to have not known what nandrolone was when the drugs cheat was caught.
