Not sure what to tell you. The judge saw enough indicating she was deliberately retaliated against for not sharing the team’s political views, that he’s allowing the case to move forward.

Of course.
Seems like she was a quitter. I’m happy she quit the team and her career ended.
If the opposite happened, and someone was kneeling and then got benched, you would hear a ton of support from the left in this lawsuit. So being punished for making a personal choice is what is wrong here, forget about all the other stuff.
”The team was demonstrating for the Black Lives Matter movement and urged the players to kneel while reading the statement of unity. Unlike her teammates, Kiersten Hening kept standing during the pregame demonstratio…The player accused coach Charles Adair of benching her and creating an environment that forced her to quit the team.
The federal Judge on December 2, 2022, ruled that the lawsuit can go to trial. “Hening, who had been a major on-field contributor for two years prior to the 2020 season, also asserts that Adair removed her from the starting lineup for the next two games and drastically reduced her playing time in those games because she had engaged in this protected First Amendment activity. As a result, Hening resigned from the team after the third game of the season,” a federal judge noted.“
Coach Adair was probably one who was celebrating Colin Kaepernick's right to kneel in protest during the national anthem and did just the opposite with this young lady. Conform or else.
Conversely, I’m not seeing all of the “distraction” and “locker room cancer” accusations here that littered the Kaepernick threads.

Why should she be kneeling for the Black Lives Matter group? The three co-founders are self-avowed Marxists.

So it’s not about freedom, it’s about kneeling being a bad cause?
You make a fair point with your Kaepernick comment. He was pretty much excoriated for doing what he did. She should have the freedom to not kneel and her teammates should have the freedom to kneel if they so choose but Coach Adair insisted everyone kneel so how many of those kneeling did so because of the potential consequences if they didn't.
Whine whine whine straight to the courts when you don’t get your way. Maybe she was benched because others were playing better, or the coach just wanted her to step up her game and attitude. So she is suing for minutes not played?? LOL and sad

I guess we’ll find out in the trial. But I can’t help but notice reaction of many liberals. Only some speech should be protected. If she were suing because she was penalized for kneeling during the anthem, or because she refused to pray with the team, or something like that, this would be national news. She would be a cause celebre, even before all the facts were known.

Exactly. Sports encouraged taking a knee in protest. Can you imagine if during the coin toss or player intros athletes held up pacifiers in order to protest abortion? That would be shut down faster than qui k.

And yet the anthem was shoehorned into domestic sporting events in the first place.

Meh. I’m left and I fully support her if the accusations are true. Sorry to burst your strawman bubble.

I’m glad you do and I believe you. I’m making a comment about our wider culture, which there left is in charge of, for all intents and purposes. They are surrounded by a lot of people who agree with them, and it’s hard for them to see inconsistencies.

Pay no attention to that inconsistency behind the curtain.
It will be fun to see what her teammates say about her. Haven’t seen any rally to her defense and there are plenty who have already graduated so retribution from coach won’t be a factor. there is some stuff out there about what type of teammate she was.
Maybe she was locker room cancer. The trial will bring that out, I’m sure. This young lady has a set of very unpopular opinions that pretty much contradict our dominant culture. I’m sure the university will have no mercy on her, and will do everything they can to discredit her.
A former Virginia Tech women's soccer player who claimed her coach benched her for her political opinions will receive $100,000 as part of a settlement, her lawyer said.
