9:36. What a huge PR
9:36. What a huge PR
Only a NP runner who isn't even ranked the top 500 in the US would have a thread dedicated to them.
9:27 3200. Another PR
Maybe it is motivating. He has dropped a great deal of time this year. It seems he ran 4:35 1600 last year and 10:52, then 15:28 in xc for 3M. Now he is at 9:27, plus, I think, 4:27 1600, and 2:00. The list prior to Arcadia for NP runners coached by the Brosnans reads as follows:
3:40, 4:03, 4:04, 4:09, 4:16 (5 guys faster than the long-time school record at my hs), 4:22, 4:23, 4:26, 4:27, 4:30, 4:36, 4:38, 4:39, 4:41, 4:57
After the top four, most, if not all, are 9th-11th grade. Then at the 3k/3200/2M, you have probably an even more impressive list.
4:31 in the 1600. Teammate Guevara ran a 4:34 (good to see him get back into racing)
In addition, Shetty broke 2 (1:59.85), Porter ran 2:00 and Watson, a soph, ran 2:01 in the 800. In the 3200, they had Herrera, a soph, run 9:37, Sloan, a freshman, 9:38, and Bernardino, another freshman, run 9:57. So, they have at least three sub-10 frosh, including two in the 9:30s. None of those guys above are seniors.
9:19
There is currently nobody on the NP team who is as slow as Shetty was as a freshman at 3200m.
Shetty: 12:14
Slowest NP runner in 2023: 12:11
Nearly a three minute 3200m improvement in two years for Shetty. So much for the notion that they are just taking fast middle schoolers. Also at the Marmonte League Finals, they had Watson (10th grade) 2:01, Porter (11th) 2:02/4:24, Guevara (11th) 2:03.63/4:36, Dickran (9th) 2:03.65, Bernardino (9th) 2:12.97/4:41, Sloan (frosh) ran 9:51, and Herrera (10th) 4:25. (the senior Seymour ran 4:19/9:11 to get the double win and Aaron Cantu, another senior, ran 9:18). The Youngs and Aaron Sahlman can't run in California high school races any more, but the quality depth is starting to get there for next year.
Looks like Doshi will likely have a training partner next year after all. A lot of top guys on the team have to train on their own, but it probably won’t be the case for Doshi
Nope..still incorrect "MF" stands for "muthaf*ckin". You're welcome
He was probably more focused on shorter distances like 1600 in the spring.
His 1600 PR freshman year was a 5:08. This year 3 NP boys couldn’t break that.
His 3-mile PR freshman year was a 18:20. Last Xc season, 5 NP boys couldn’t break that
Solid team but it will be hard to qualify for NXN out of CA. California will be VERY competitive on the team side.
Ventura, Great Oak, Trabuco Hills, San Clemente, Dana Hills, and Oakdale
But they will have the ability to qualify from the NY region next season though.
Have no fear California teams, you have the almighty Rich Gonzalez on your side. 4 Teams into NXN is almost guaranteed.
I think the Southwest region always looks really solid.
Northwest is also gonna be very good.
It’s also highly doubtful that NP will be one of the top 4 CA teams.
In this thread, WaitForMoreData has Ventura, San Clemente, Trabuco Hills, and Great Oak as the top 4 teams so far next year
9:15 in Section prelims. 1 second behind Cantu.
Moving onto the finals too!
This guy was the #1 NPHS runner for 2 meets in a row
He beat Fast Horse!!!!
