September to April is a dream for distance runners in Florida!!!
August horrible, September really bad, October bad, November pretty good, December-January-February excellent, March-getting hot for races already but some good weather, April rough for the races and a good deal of the training, May-really bad, June (national champs)-horrible.
As crazy as this might sound, heat and humidity actually does have a 'poor man's altitude' effect, although the epigenetic reasons are not quite the same. Heat and humidity training will make one more vascular.
As the title states, why would Parker Valby not transfer to better her career with a better team? She is clearly leagues above her teammates and Florida doesn't have hills to train on (not a deal breaker). But if she wants to go pro, I feel like going to a school with other too runners I'm the country is going to help her. I understand her training is different than most, but Natalie Cook has a similar training regimen so maybe she could transfer to Oklahoma.
I don't know, seems like waste to see her compete without a team when she can get a full ride anywhere.
This thread is insane. It's completely ridiculous. She's running awesome right now. She's one of the fastest in NCAA history. Why on earth would she transfer? That's seriously nuts to even suggest. The reason she's stayed healthy and didn't quit the spot is because she's been with Solinsky. She said as much in interviews. She was ready to quit when she couldn't stay healthy, I don't see her doing better at another school. People are seriously suggesting she transfers because she lost to one of the greatest US prep xc runners of all time? LOL

It is somewhat mind-boggling to think that she has run the fastest collegiate 6k cross-country time, ever. That time could stand for years into the future. For that reason alone, the Ole Miss course should have been re-measured after the race.
But according to Coach Solinsky, he asked the Ole Miss coach, and the answer was that, if anything, their course was a little long, although tangents could possibly have made it a little bit short. However, a few will argue that PV does not know how to run tangents. (emoji :smile: )

Did you see the times of Chelangat, Olemomoi, etc? 6 runners under 19:06. What would Tuohy have done on that course?
If Toohy weas smart. she would transfer to Florida to get a better education, train with the top runner in the NCAA, and win more team titles than she will win at NC State.
I really don't understand it. XC is a team sport, individual accolades mean nothing. Could you imagine one of the two best quarterbacks in college football staying at some mid major school with no chance at winning a team championship?

Why would she transfer to Oklahoma? Natalie Cook is at Oklahoma State.
Valby is doing fine at Florida. Also, professionals consider track to be more important than XC and didn’t Valby help the Gators win a team title in T&F last season? I honestly doubt that the trajectory of Valby’s professional career would change much if at all if she were to transfer.
Lastly, UF is an outstanding university. Believe it or not there is more to life than running.
Saw her hours before the 5000m finals at NCAAs with her team and she seemed happy to be a part of the Gator family. She will be just fine.

North Florida, yes. The rest of Florida, it sucks year round but in summer it sucks even more.
