Making the assumption that he’s in a gang because his name is D’Sean defies logic. Which is probably why you avoided saying it outright and cowardly tiptoed around saying what you meant.

Nothing to fear here. The Washington Post says this brave young man is just on campus "flourishing".

New Hampshire has virtually no gun control yet the lowest murder rate. Hawaii has a lot of gun control and a low murder rate.

Get with the Program - I am no gun guy. But we have gun laws already and they are not being enforced. What are the odds this guy - with a known anger problem since graduating from a Petersburg high school five years ago - is the lawful owner of the gun which killed three people at UVA? Again, not against gun control but these laws are only as effective as their enforcement. And enforcement of the laws would mean quite a few more in prison than today, in a society which incarcerates more than almost any other country. Witness the Plaxico Burruss incident in New York - no one was hurt but himself in a handgun accident. But he served time. It takes that kind of vigilance to have effective gun control. Be careful what you wish for.

Another question. Who the heck needs a gun at UVa?

I hope that people see this as an angry young man who was out of control. But make no mistake, the football industrial complex at UVA will be blamed by some. UVA is not a SEC school - there are faculty and students who openly question the way football changes the academic landscape - from admissions to academic support (and majors which permit passing through) to a huge misallocation of resources (to them) and so on. The current coach, a poor choice for the school because his relevant experience is getting four and five stars to play at Clemson in a unique and isolating religious environment (don't agree with that but it is accurate) is viewed today as losing control of the team. Football of course is not anywhere near as important as the lives of these three young men, but a dismal and grief stricken and uncontrolled environment around the football team will be highly unfortunate, especially given the factor of racism which exists.

He was a previous UVA FB player and current student. Killed 3 current players and injured 2 others. What is it with UVA athletes. Previously a lacrosse player murdered his girlfriend also a UVA lacrosse player. So sad.
