The phrase isn't an insult. You are merely describing what the person is feeling. I have gone home feeling devastated many times for various reasons. Calling someone ugly or fat or stupid are insults.

Editor's Note: Fixed the thread title for you OP. :)
The fix doesn't carry over to the "On The Boards" thread highlights
Has there even been a VALID occurrence of both MF and GOES HOME DEVASTATED in the same title?
I'm trying to think of an example here. Maybe a situation where someone wins a race (MF) but narrowly misses out on a CR/WR etc. (GOES HOME DEVASTATED).
Help me out here.

Usain MF Bolt crashes out of his last race, goes home devastated
"Goes Home Devastated" implies that at least you went there, tried, and cared about the effort that you gave.
Not really an insult.
anyone heard of this spelling? wrote:

Yes, a worse insult is "go back to 3rd grade and pay attention in English grammar class".
It sucks to be accused of being "DOPED TO THE GILLS"
Only thing worse is to say that somebody is finished after a race. Like Mo when he failed in his Tokyo qualifying time, people weren't really saying 'Mo goes home devastated', they were saying 'Mo is finished'. Going home devastated implies that you can still come back and win another day.
It never gets old. LoL
The typical person using the phrase "goes home devastated" tends to be quite immature in the way teenagers are immature about life.
Insults issued by dumb people are not insults to the targets, but self-insults by and to the people issuing them. Either that, or sarcasm.
It's been fun, but there is just too much negative energy here and too many new a**holes who post bullsh*t and lots of great people who used to post all the time who have left or gone underground. I'm out. Life is too short. I'll be in kona. Hope to see some of you there. Paulo knows how to find me.

Just read the grammar in the title😬 “is there a worse insult in the world then goes home devastated” lol

It was not a grammar error, but a spelling error (or perhaps an error in usage, which also is not grammar)
