Seems like they don’t care how they do nationally this year cause they know that no team is better than NP. They are trying to hit a very low average at RunningLane so that’s one of the reasons they chose it.

They better choose to face real national competition next year

If they are so good, why not run against the best? Thought so..

There is not much time between state and NXR for them.
If they are so deep, why not run their 8-14 guys at state and their 1-7 guys at NXR and NXN instead of RunningLane?

This has been beaten to death.

1)They are not doing Nike because there are only 4 days between their state meet and NXR

2) So far this season jesuit has traveled twice to out of town meets and beaten the current Dyestat #5, 6, 12, 13, 20, and 28 teams. Probably the strongest resume in the country. Saying they are scared to race against competition makes you look uninformed.

3) They return a lot of good runners for next year and will likely be nationally ranked, so unless Nike or the state association changes something, the same conflict will exist.

I don't understand why this is a conflict. Many teams run meets that are closer together than 4 days. While that may not be ideal, it is certainly something that can be done. Especially if it isn't a regular thing and is just done one time. 4 days is plenty of time to recover between hard efforts.

Last years top 14 are still on the team. Their 8th man is a freshman who ran a 16:11 5K. One of their guys on the B-team Aeric Wender was actually in their top 7 last year

And then Patrick Dowd knocked Wender off the top 7 after being #8 last year and running a 9:18 in the 3200

Seriously JNo is very, very good. We see deep teams like this occasionally. CBA a decade a go had like 6 guys sub 9:15 with old shoes. York has had a few deep teams also.

It's Louisiana!!! Jesuit will have faster times during a workout today then the second place team will on race day. Many many years ago Louisiana had the state meet so late in the season. Salmen's Bobby Beck had a 14:02 three mile early in the season. The state meet was the day before AAU nationals in St. Louis. He won state in Baton Rouge while Catholic High students spit on him the entire race. Our team finished second and flew that night to St Louis. Smoking 🚬 was still allowed on planes then. Also Basketball Teams didn't have their own planes as we had the Atlanta Hawks on the ride. We think the second hand smoke did us in more than the state meet the day before. Bobby finished second I believe at Nationals that year.

Small time gap between NXR and state isn’t really the main reason why they chose RunningLane.
They are trying to run a sub-15 top-5 average. That’s their goal. Which is dumb because even those that raced at RunningLane know that the times on that course aren’t legit 5K times
They also know that they won’t win NXN against NP anyways. But next year they should try to face against real competition at nationals, since np will be down and Jesuit returns 5 of their top 8
