I’ll be in SD for Thanksgiving. My preferred Turkey Trot 10-miler in Yorba Linda has been canceled since Covid.
Haven’t run the Dana Point Turkey Trot in years. It got really big and is kind of a hassle with traffic and crowds. Prefer the lower key races, although there are some fast runners in this race.
With the current state of US and world 800m runners, Keely, Athing, Sage, she was never going to be relevant again on the track. This move makes sense. Congrats K8
The point is that it wasn't your announcement to make. Yes, it was obvious to me that she was preggers in her wedding photos but since she wasn't announcing it, it wasn't my right to do so. She wasn't ready yet and it was her story to tell. Just because you 'figured it out' doesn't mean that you get a prize from telling everyone else about it. There are lots of reasons why women don't announce their pregnancies to the world.
I made this thread a month ago when she had an obvious baby bump on her wedding photos and it got deleted due to "speculation based on a womans body". Well there you have it guys, so much for the speculation.
I don't understand what you want or are asking for from your post? Kudos to you that you had a set of functioning eyeballs and were able to assume her health status before others. Way to go! Look up the term PHI--and realize that posting and speculating about someone else's PHI is a total jerk move. Only other jerks are going to give you kudos for doing so. Weirdo.

My issue is that it got deleted. LR allows for speculation (I mean when did we last discuss doping based on facts). But somehow in this case that was all HORRIBLE although it was evidence based on a picture. And no by speculating on the internet I am not breaking the news for her because that only she can. Smart group of people like on LR must be able to grasp the difference. And please do not even get started on the whole like "medical privacy" BS.
If that is the path you want to go down then "Is XYZ injured" threads need to be deleted each time. Injuries are medical info, right? You see how ridiculous that is.
This could be a great opportunity to think about how you're living your life, starting with climbing up on a cross on an internet message board and maybe progressing to slack-jawed gawking at strangers' lives on SM. You're better than this, I promise.
"Methods Forty-two elite (>50% competed at the World Championships/Olympic) middle/long-distance runners’ pre-, during-, and post-pregnancy training (quality/quantity/type) data (retrospective questionnaire) and competition data (published online) were collected. Results Running volume decreased significantly (p < 0.01) from the first trimester (63 ± 34 km/week) to third trimester (30 ± 30 km/week). Participants returned to activity/exercise at ~6 weeks postpartum and to 80% of pre-pregnancy training volumes by 3-months. In the 60% of participants who intended to return to equivalent performance levels post-pregnancy, there was no statistical decrease in performance in the 1 to-3 years post compared to pre-pregnancy, and 46% improved performances post-pregnancy."
Bad analogy. Speculating on pregnancy is not the same thing as a brand change. There are a lot of reasons why it’s awful behavior to babble on an anonymous website about a pregnancy that wasn’t announced and make weird comments about a woman’s body in her wedding dress. it’s not that obvious in her wedding photos.
Pregnancy can result in complications and there are a lot of reasons why people wait to announce. We don’t know her or any woman’s history around pregnancy unless they tell us.
so no sour grapes from you. You were careless and rude in your previous thread and congrats to Kate
Agreed. You aren't entitled to her personal health information. It's her news to share.
A long time ago I took media law and ethics classes and I remembered us being taught that if you put it out in the public, you have little to complain about if people make certain (measured to certain degrees) assumptions. Careless, rude — assuming that about a public figure based on a picture she posted to Instagram? Some of you ultra-woke types seem to look out for such stuff to get your panties into knots. Jeez!

You're awesome! Thanks for pointing this out. No reason professional runners can't make decisions like this and have to sacrifice their career.
