Let’s not forget his out of the top ten finishes this year at the US 15km and 10 mile champs. Or his impressive 2:21 at Boston last year after talking about he’s in 2:08 shape.
CEO of Parkers fan club here to provide a bit of insight:
Parker was training through the event and feels like he is in great shape. Ran some killer workouts this past month in the lead up. Expect big things in 2023! He also wanted me to mention that he is single and interested in literally anything that moves.
New York has all the top Americans this year other than Mantz. Chicago had another 3 or 4 guys under 2:10 that nobody ever heard of. Parker is not a top 10 American right now.
Parker has good track speed and a huge engine thats helps him from 15k - 25k races. However his running economy isn't good enough for the marathon, he's a diesel engine like Ritz. He's clearly using more energy than the guys around him, there's no flow or elasticity to his stride.
Is there any special reason someone should retire just because you want him to?
Well, he's paid by a company not getting a return on their investment. Parker should keep running, but does someone need to keep paying him to?
Don't you think the company paying him is in a better position than you are to decide how happy or unhappy they are with the return they're getting on their investment? And why on earth would he retire if someone is paying him to do something he likes doing?
if he comes from money, he should continue racing because he enjoys it and he’s not getting paid much. No idea if he’s that smart and is giving up some other lucrative career option. Truth is most people in America are mediocre at everything and should just give up. “Saucony isn’t getting a return on their investment” 😂😂 you guys are funny. He may not even be getting health insurance from them.

He went through 10k in 29:11 which is around 61:30 pace… so very simply, he went for a big PB and it wasn’t his day. It happens - he’ll be back. Splits linked below:

They all retire when they lose sponsorship. He had a plenty of time to prove himself but it appears he just doesn't have it. I think he is really trying but he probably lacked a bit in the talent department. A lot of guys who ran at his level went into pro running.
I don't think Roots Running is a "pro" group. At least they don't have the PRs or credentials of a professional running team. Look at the guys that have recently joined - Sid Vaughn, Charlie Lawrence, etc. These are fast hobbyjoggers - no one is paying them, or even providing free gear if I had to guess. Maybe Droddy and Parker supply them all with Saucony and Salomons?

I think you're wrong about no one paying C-Law. He's had a lucrative sponsorship with the Bank of Mommy and Daddy ever since he left Hanson's
