There is just no way a healthy Parker Valby will get beaten by Tuohy this year and in the upcoming years. Valby is just on another level and looks to dominate NCAA in the next few years if she stays healthy. A new star is born!
Remember she ran 18:58 6k for her first race!
lets analyze their first races:
katelyn ran 15:50 5kavg 3:10/km
valby ran 18:58 6kavg 3:9.5/km
where on earth did the 30 seconds come from?? just purely confused here

correction:
valby ran 18:58.2 which sets her average as 3 minutes 9.7 seconds per kilometer and then katelyn ran 15:50.0 which sets her average as 3 minutes 10 seconds per kilometer
setting aside how valby magically dropped her times
im actually literally excited to see them race at nationals, hopefully both of them can have a "good day" and the weather cooperates coz they both can shatter the course record, surely valby will be up front from the get go, thats how she always races, , katelyn will be behind whoever is in the lead and will wait for a move to be made
so excited! its going to be the most watched ncaa cross country race ever!

If the watts course was really 30-40 meters short like the coach said, then Valby was 3:11/km pace

Literally dont care at all, what matters is both can run the same pace, but the question is who can run close to that pace in Stillwater course.
Cook and Roe spent the whole summer and fall season practicing running on their home course, itd be funny if Valby and Tuohy goes there and show them how its done and just shatters the course record like they run there everyday.
Katelyn effortlessly ran 19:44 at the also hilly and cold Nuttycombe course which is 3.17.4 per kilometer, cruising at the end and at that race, ran the same race plan as joe piane, was just with the lead pack until the last kilometer.
Cook ran 20:17 at their hilly and hot home course which is 3:22.9 per kilometer.
Cook and Roehasquite the advantage, not only they have the course memorized like the anthem, but they dont have to travel and adjust to manh things that affect how you feel during the race.
She doesn’t look healthy to me. Worried she has an eating disorder. If you look back at pictures of her from a year or two she was toned (ex had abs) at ~15 lbs heavier. Not sure losing that much weight from an already toned physique is healthy. I hope I am imagining this but if she isnt nourishing properly it’s very hard to stay physically healthy and mentally focused.
She is only a red shirt sophomore. Look back last 10 years and most champions were seniors with a few juniors.
She’s the best on her team by a lot whereas tuohy has a situation where it’s just as much about the team
I hope pv goes into ncaas healthy and with minimal pressure. Top 4 or 5 would be a great accomplishment for her this year. Kt could win this year, depends on her mental composure and hope fit she is. It’s still early to tell but it wouldn’t surprise me if she does it. Yes I know she won the 5k last year but cross is a different beast. Anything can happen on the day. The key for her is to focus on the team championship and to not get carried away too early because she feels the pressure to win it. If KT is in good position with 2k to go, she can wind it up and run away with it.

You think 19:44 on that course is impressive? Allie Ostrander ran that course over half a minute faster as a true freshman.

ok good for her, so does she race on november in stillwater? where is she now, would love to know

the time of 19:44 is impressive specially when its just a "practice" time, she literally just ran a tempo and its the 8th-fastest time ever on that course
while allie ran 19:19 as full on all-out race, only 25 seconds faster than katelyn's practice time, 19:19 is such a crazy time nonetheless but it was rumored to be ran on a shorter ver of the course, as they changed the course after that, still whther it was short or not, its impressive
that 19:19 is tough to beat but after katelyn past races, we all know shes capable of breaking that course record if she wants to, and if her coach allows her to run it, but for now, all decisions are for winning another national title and not for individual glory, she entered and ran that race with the same mindset and goal with her teammates, and that is to practice running in a big field and move up well as a team
What is up with some of you? Heck yes coaches recruit thin runners. How many fat runners do you see? How many are obese? How many are average sized? The answer is zero to every question. Even Tuohy who looks like a bodybuilder on the course is tiny walking around campus.

Tuohy's time converts to about 19:12 for 6K so only 14 seconds behind not 30.
This is consistent with the last time Valby was fully healthy and fit back in January when she ran a faster 3000 than Tuohy's much celebrated 8:54 from late December. Tuohy's race was on the fast track in Boston with Camp pulling her all the way to the last lap.
Valby's faster 3000 was run completely solo the day after running a 4:35 DMR leg and she finished the 3000 on a broken foot.
