As a competitor to the Nike Streakfly, I assume yes, it is a “supershoe” but not aimed at the marathon, more intended for 5k/10k.
Emily has clearly resisted the temptation of the RCE V2 and SCE, you would have to assume she does not like/prefer them. So no point considering “what if”.
She should have had them around her neck when they did that interview with Kiera, Joanie and Deena.
Yup. Skiers know they have to market their gear. They have podium skis held together side by side with holders (with big labels) so the ski graphics are visible on the podium. The podium skis are not usually the race skis, just sponsor ski set up for max visibility on the podium.
Considering the best images of her today were brought to us by the Hubble Telescope I doubt anyone got a good enough look to determine what they were. People on the 100th floor observation deck of the Willis Tower probably got a better view that we did on TV.
If I hear anything funnier than this today, it will have been a great day!
It was laughable marketing for sure. You couldn't even see the logo on the shoe much less determine the model. NB missed a huge opportunity. In London and Berlin, the front runners were wearing the brightest colors available, and that makes sense! So weird that we are having to investigate the winning shoe.

Didn't really matter seeing as she got like 5 minutes of total TV coverage 🤷♂️
She was wearing NoBull joggers. Seriously, whatever she wore were fully customized to her biomechanics and has no bearing on how hobbyjoggers will fare in an ostensibly identical shoe. Ray Treacy was a far greater factor in her performance than any shoe could be.

Stupid shoe-obsessed runnerds, the logos that really matter were on her top and shorts and were highly visible in any shot. Anyone who cares to notice these things is aware she was wearing NB shoes. 🙄
$150? Wow, they DO cost the same as Streakfly in the US. It's 190 in Europe though while the Streakfly is still 150. That's hardly a competition, it would take a lot to convince me to get 190 euro shoes.
Sounds like she wasn't so committed to one shoe or another. This article by Molly Huddle says she was still trying out two pairs a week before the race and still undecided on race day.
On second look, it's actually the SC Pacer period - not beefed up at all. The NB website photo shows less distinctive midsole sidewall molding, so I thought it looked slimmer than the shoe she wore. But someone on reddit found another photo of the Pacer, and you can see the same strong sidewall lines.
Upper left photo showing the sidewall exactly like what she wore. The all-white midsole makes it look chunkier than green/white. Lower right photo from the NB website looks like it has a smoother sidewall is what I was initially comparing her shoe to, making her shoe look chunkier, but maybe actual pacers look more like upper left?
Is the Pacer considered a supershoe in terms of lab testing? It has a carbon plate, but how springy is the foam? It's at a lower price point at $150 retail too. In any case, yes, makes her AR more impressive.
Emily's Chicago racing flat may have a similar geometry to the Pacers but if you zoom into the midsole it appears to look like a premium PEBA. It kind of has that faded manila colored midsole that Shalane and Amy had on their Prototype Vaporfly at 16' trials which was basically a Stream LT upper on midsole of Vaporfly 1 and sole of Streak 5.
Maybe these will be available soon? I remember Sara Hall racing London in the rain crushing the last 1/4 mile in a pair of cobbled Metaspeed. About 3 months after this the Metaspeed Sky was out
