...and we wonder why our sport has no fans
I agree with the video comments....the Cowboy Jamboree's video was great. Very little audio, but that really isn't an issue. Actually I found the CJ video quality better than most of the streams done by the NCAA - even the major meets last year.
For a sport looking to increase it's fanbase, it's ridiculous that there isn't some mandate for video at every race.
It is ridiculous. High school meets get better coverage than a major college meet. Take a small video camera or even an I-phone, sit on the cart and post it on YT.
It was like the Virginia invite last spring. The high school Loucks games has video but a major college meet had none at a major university.

The live stream can run into issues in the remote sections of courses, but this was probably just recorded and later uploaded.
Thanks for that!
Also, The Stride Report did a nice write up this morning about the Joe Piane Invite as well!
Posted 15 minutes ago....looks like a pic of the team running the course at Notre Dame today. I think I can see part of Kesley Chmiel's head (just to the left of Katelyn's face).
Chmiel is listed on the start list. Will be verrrry interesting to see who races. If start lists are accurate NC state, new mexico, ND, and alabama are all racing A teams. That would give us a lot of info about how things are looking for the NCAA team title (as well as individual)

Fans? For cross country? LOL! The only people who attend a cross meet are the track team members forced to be there who aren't distance runners when its a home meet, other distance runners in the meet, and a handful of parents and some coaches of the teams.

I would think right there on that posting from the team is where a request could be made to pretty much beg someone to film at LEAST their team members…. I don’t have an account, so it’s a suggestion for semihaze, etc., as I saw she posted on that already…
30 minutes ‘til the big start…

I assume that your comment about fans is because of the coverage of the event, or the lack thereof. It seems to me that there are plenty of fans. There are a lot of people here talking about the sport, weekend high school meets bring large crowds to courses throughout the country, participation in high school seems to be fairly steady or increasing, there are a lot of websites dedicated to the sport of xc and track & field. This web site, ustfccca, dyestat, the stridereport, wood report, track and field news, etc. Look at how people were responding when they thought that LACCTiC wasn't going to be a thing this year. They were very disappointed. When they found out it was going to up and running, they were happy. Indifferent fans don't care about those things. Hell, I live in Ohio and there is a 22 or 23 page thread here going on about HIGH SCHOOL cross country in Ohio. By the end of the season that thread will be well over 50 pages. People in my state are crazy about the sport.
What do you expect, exactly? 110,000 rabid fans like will be attending the Ohio State vs Michigan football game? By and large, the majority of the fans are those that have kids or someone they know in the sport or participated in the sport themselves at some point. There are very few casual fans that have no previous connection to the sport and all of a sudden decide to become fans. As participation in the sport increases, so will the fan base. That is where the growth of fans needs to come from.
The issue I have with no video is you could watch 10 different NCAA field Hockey games today if you wanted......
New Mexico is streaming
Is anyone there live? Come on someone???
