Sure, it may not be what you expected but what price can you put on being able to humblebrag that you went D1?

Cross country has the top endurance athletes in the country. It is more relevant than the silly ball sports where they just push each other around and accomplish nothing but strange little arbitrary tasks.

That’s because you haven’t seen the crowds or money involved with equestrian.
That’s pretty embarrassing, especially for D1. Athletic administrators don’t realize how important it is to give out a decent amount of gear. It’s not the actual gear that matters, but the CONCEPT. When you give your athletes 1 shirt, that shows the athletes how you feel about them and how you value them. All XC athletes need are some shoes, shorts, a few shirts and a bag. I get it, XC isn’t a huge revenue generating sport. But you want your athletes to be proud to represent your university, they’re an extension of your marketing department. And recruits want to know details like how much gear you get. It may not seem like a big deal to administrators, but things like this are a huge turn off to high schoolers. I think you should name drop your school so they realize how absurd this is.
Well it depends on how successful the program is. If your program isn’t scoring/placing high at the conference meet, or sending individuals to regionals/natties, it makes sense. They need to allot funds to other programs. If you have won a conference championship or placed high or sent athletes to regionals/natties, then that’s a completely different story. Quite f’ed up if you ask me.

I was once sent a couple big boxes of sshoes and gear from a shoe company. It went to my college coaches office. He took all the gear and gave me 1 pair of shoes. The rep called me and asked how I liked all the stuff they sent...

We are leaving for our second meet of the season tomorrow.
Anyway we were told a couple days ago our gear drop would be today at 11. When we show up they ask our size, then hand us one shirt that doesn't even say cross country on it. Every other sport at the school has gotten multiple pairs of shoes, and all their gear and they aren't even in season yet.
We were sent to our first race with no gear at all, and now this race with only a shirt. Does this happen at other schools or just us?
That's all we got at SFA one year, our shirt at least said cross country on it. Our track team didn't even have a locker room, and we were ranked nationally. Don't go to school for gear, enjoy wearing that one shirt you got and kicking bigger school asses.
I don't mind, but they require us to wear gear in the weight room, practice and traveling. Idk how we supposed to do that with one shirt.
You don't. Wear the team shirt 1 or 2 days a week and your own clothes (preferably from a different brand than your school sponsor) the rest of the time.
If they have a problem with that they can provide you with some more shirts.
When I was your age we got one cardboard box, had to cut out our own armholes AND headhole. We had to wear that box everywhere- NO EXCEPTIONS. These modern kids have it way too easy.
I know who you are poopyman69. I hope you get banned from running for your school for complaining about this. Absolutely inacceptable.
I don’t see how the kid did anything wrong. He even made sure not to mention the school’s name. I’m sure he’s just curious if any other athletes have dealt with the same issues. Also, it’s *unacceptable big guy
Dang guys that sucks. I only got one item in my gear drop this year too unfortunately and here’s a link to eat we got.
He was in the wrong. This student athlete should never step foot on a cross country course again.

He has done everything wrong. If given a free shirt one should be grateful.

XC makes no money. No money should be allocated to XC.

Unless you're in the SEC, Big 10, Big 12 or MAYBE the ACC, be prepared for this to become the norm in "DI" over the next few years. Enjoy being de facto DII kids!

Nike sponsored school. We had a change in head coach and there may have been a mix up in the process.
If they're not providing your equipment I guess you're free to wear Adidas gear and participate in the Adidas NIL program.
When you’re at meets and training in the shirt it doesn’t need to say XC on it. I actually like this understated style.
