Shelby continued using a private gym Jerry had built at his house (!!!!) with the team while coaches were present. How is that not considered practice?

She didn't bump into teammates on runs, she drove to Nike's campus and waited for them, and even did long runs with them.

She went on altitude trips with them and stayed with (most likely) Shalane, and team activities ( would guess massages etc) were done at the house where she was staying.

More than one teammate had issues with this arrangement. I wonder who else? GDS's sister for one, but I wonder if Infeld, Quigley, Hall, Jorgensen also voiced concerns.

Elise Cranny riding for her is wild to me. They didn't meet until 2017. It's not like they have this long personal history. It just makes her look incredibly sus.

GDS contacted what was likely CADP to see for herself what she should do and was told that they wouldn't say for sure whether or not these actions were in violation. That's a turnaround from her previous quotes saying she was sure Jerry wouldn't put her in harm's way. They told her to give an anonymous tip to AIU and get out. Presumably she did, and the fact that she's telling the news this shows how fed up she is with this situation and how it continues to be handled.

Also, as another poster wrote, how was she in compliance with AIU rules during the 6 month provisional? she was still practicing with them?

I never liked the "Shelby's a narcissist" narrative. It always feels like anything anyone does that's selfish deems them a narcissist these days. But my god, this behavior is insanely self centered. She just tried to carry on like nothing had actually happened. I get not wanting your life to be destroyed but have a little shame, have a little desire to protect your friends. At least save the money when it comes to altitude trips when you need them.

It is not made up. Everyone gets that offer, see rule 10.8.1 ("One-Year Reduction for Certain Anti-Doping Rule Violations Based on Early Admission and Acceptance of Sanction").

This is a troll post but I want to explain why this case is so frustrating.

From the moment she was banned and offered up the worlds most ridiculous lie, people (particularly in the media but also pro runners ) chose to either believe her or remain silent. People who were so staunchly anti doping when it came to foreigners or Galen were silent or showed support. People who spoke out against other athletes doping referred to Shelby's ban as a "tragedy" and were silent for months before speaking out.

Since then very few in media have owned their bias (say what you will about Kara but at least she copped up to it) and very few have reported on Shelby fairly. Instead they shill for her or pretend that each ridiculous thing she does didn't happen.

There's nothing in her story to suggest she's clean or unlucky. She doped and is trying to act like it's a big injustice. She's blaming the system for doing it's job. She's also making others fearful of eating meat or being tested for no reason than to serve her own selfish purpose, and that's wrong. But most prominent figures in media supported her, so this has just enraged fans even more because mostly people hate being lied to.

If the media told the truth, there wouldn't be million page threads about Shelby. We wouldn't listen to her, or care about what she's doing. I've never seen so much attention paid by fans to an athlete who is banned. Once they're banned, they're banned. But there is unfinished business with Shelby because the media won't admit it was the right thing to do.

I also wonder if Jerlane could face bans if it came out that they had violated rules. Assuming GDS is working with the AIU and providing the info she knows.

Certainly the more we learn, the spirit of the rules was being violated. I guess what is surprising is that BTC leadership couldn't recognize how risky/misguided the whole arrangement was even when called out upon it. Certainly Shelby appears to be a blind spot for them.

The fact that now Schumacher and Flanagan are now in charge of the most storied college track and field program in America is absurd. The NOP gets shut down for using a legal supplement (L-Carnitine) and the BTC straight up cheats with steroids, has the cheater athlete continue to stay on board, forces the other BTC athletes to train with the cheater, misleads everyone including the AIU, USADA and WADA that she wasn't training with the group (she was living with a staff member at team camp), and yet Schumacher and Flanagan are rewarded with leading our future stars. Why any BTC athlete would remain with that team is perplexing. Why any parent would allow for their kid to go to Oregon is equally as perplexing. This really shouldn't go away.

I feel incredibly sorry for Shelby.

I’ve followed this story a little. I hadn’t read about the possibility of testing at a nandrolone level similar to what Shelby had if pregnant. It’s says she took a pregnancy test right away (which at least implies the possibility of pregnancy) and it was negative. Why didn’t they fight to have her sample tested for pregnancy hormone levels? If the test had been a month or 2 before, she could have had what’s considered a chemical pregnancy (where you miscarry at 5 weeks but never really realize you were pregnant because the miscarriage is just like a heavy period and close enough within the timing of your normal period that it would have gone unnoticed). Seems like an easy enough test to do on the sample to check for hcg. Maybe they already check for that in drug testing so it would have been moot to ask for it. Just seems like a way more sensible route/defense/scenario than the one they took instead.

At least shes been consistent. If you were her and felt you were genuinely innocent would you act any differently than she is now?

The rumors were always that the Schumacher group was more more boundary pushing, if not outright dirty, while Salazar was just gray/grey zone like being eager to find thyroid issues and asthma to benefit from the meds.
