The race was 5k just like high school. Injury would be bad but so would hitting the wall in a short meaningless tuneup race. Hopefully it's just cramping like others have said.
I didn't take the time to determine that it was a 5K race, the same distance as she ran in high school races. Thanks for setting me straight. Yeah, she (hopefully) just cramped up and will learn from her experiences.
Jenna left high school racing behind so early to prepare for college. I think there’s something about racing in high school that makes you learn how to battle. Leaving early might have taken some of the lessons learned from racing.

For whatever reasons Jenna Hutchins doesn't race national meets, she never won a national title too.

You don't know much about Jenna Hutchins. She ran the Footlocker national cross country championships her freshman (2018) and sophomore year (2019) before Covid interrupted everything.
She also won what many people considered to be a national championship when she won the 2020 RunningLane cross country her junior year.
And you started this thread claiming that she had an ankle injury in her most recent race when nothing of the sort happened. It was all just your imagination. She was very tired from going out way too fast in a 5k cross country race, and she ran out of gas.
Is there any other incorrect information that you would like to share with us?
the course have several holes on it and uneven surfaces, she seemed to have twisted her ankle in the middle of the race or she might have re-injured her injury, she was limping in the last 1.5k but was not pulled out by coach taylor, poor jenna.
Every course has uneven surfaces. It's cross country. I raced this course the other day, and it was fantastic. The few small holes were well-marked with flags and paint. The course felt fast and fans were EVERYWHERE.
She's clearly not limping. She simply blew up. We've all been there once or twice before. She'll bounce back.

Jenna did not leave HS early to begin training in college (though she did graduate early and attended BYU in the spring). She was not injured. She did not deal with burnout. Do the math...
I think she might be following Claudia Lane's trajectory. Significant down time has allowed her body to catch up to where nature intended. She doesn't have that wiry look anymore. Lane went through the same thing after her injury and layoff.
Nothing wrong with that. Even the NY Times wrote about the phenomenon. But she probably won't be as fast as before.
You made my point. She is no Teare. He went from worst in the NCAA to world class yet you don't seem to belive that shecan rebound from a poor performance to top 7 on her team.
This is not surprising. It's been pointed out here several times that the BYU women's program churns good runners at an alarming rate. The numbers are shocking- less than 10% of their (extremely talented) recruits are healthy and competing. Dozens of HS blue-chip recruits just disappear there if they don't take the initiative to transfer. The historic rosters from 2018-2022 are on the website, do the analysis yourself. Any parent sending their child into that situation is a bit off.
